Liu's favs

Mwahahahaha...

Pablo...

My lucky friend Pfelelep went to a Picasso Exhibition in HK. I've never seen any Picasso for true but I know lots of his paintings and Artwork. A long long time ago, I tried to paint one of his work : "Two women running on the beach"(1922), from his classical period. I chose to paint this one because he stayed a long period in Dinard (France) which is located near my native village, and this one has been painted in Dinard.

Here's a picture of my modest copy (oil on canvas) whistle

Have you already seen A Picasso for true ?

J'adoooooree :)Ode to Joy

I don't think I can say I'm the greatest fan of Picasso, so I guess I'm maybe not the right person to comment, eheh -- but for sure I can say that I admire you for the dedication in recreating this painting smile

I don't think I ever saw a Picasso for true actually.

Hi Andrea, you 'll always be the right person to comment here. Thanks for your visit. wink

Liu Wednesday, July 2, 2008 6:07:24 AM

Merci Scott. It's easier to draw I guess, since the bodies are disproportionate p

Yes, I've seen students in Le LOuvre, studying and copying master works such as 'Le radeau de la méduse' de Jericho... I wish I could have do the same but without the turist people all around me... right

i know. it's a pain how they hang over your shoulder... but if i am really working, i can ignore them. i don't mean to say it's easy. it's always hard, but it's always worth the effort.

par exemple... i spent some years in washington state... trying to stay sober as i was nursing my father towards his end.... once in a while i would drive the 50 miles to seattle, go to the hottest clubs and draw for eight hours at a time amidst the chaos and the frenzy. i never drank and i never paid for anything. the waitresses took care of my needs. to have an aim... that's all you need.

Pfeleleppfelelep Saturday, July 5, 2008 5:49:00 AM

don't complain about tourists gathering around to see you drawing...

in hongkong, not only nobody cares about what you are doing, but they even push you just as you are nothing.

or they just stand before you, no matter if you were drawing a model or a landscape: you don't exist.

@Artman: do you have any adress to recommand? whistle

scott cummingI_ArtMan Saturday, July 5, 2008 5:57:06 AM

@pfelelep
" do you have any adress to recommand?"
i'm not sure what you mean... you mean the hot spots in seattle? or a web address to recommend?
very funny about the chinese ignoring artists... omg... we have so far to go. they, the chinese, were once the most marvelous and accomplised artists. now they are taken by materialism. it may take a thousand years for them to return to the 'inner transformation'.

how strange....

Pfeleleppfelelep Saturday, July 5, 2008 6:03:07 AM

it's not chinese people....

IT'S HONGKONG PEOPLE WHAAAAAAAAAAAA! cry

mainland chinese would indeed gather and comment (compliment) your drawing. They really respect every aspect of art.

hongkong people just don't know and don't care about art. It's...

it's....

it's sad.

is it because of the chase of the almighty gold? i propose that the british occupation twisted their natural sensibilities.
don't get me wrong i love the brittish isles, mostly the other ones of course, the english are no better than latin normans. which i have nothing against the normans except that they were greedy for power. that doesn't sit well in my siddhartha brain. sorry, it's getting late, and it's the fourth of july. if only the concept of independence were to catch fire... independent form government, independent from religion. so much free time to paint or sculpt or write and make movies if only they would let go of us.

errata... if only we could let go of them. and sports of course... god how we waste our precious time on earth.

Hi! Great copy! I´m lucky to live in Madrid... there´s lots of Picasso´s paintings here! It´s true that The Guernica is a very sad painting, but standing in front and getting lost in it is amazing!!!!
