The Sky In Olympia Tonight

Clouds like this are pretty common here. This particular formation really stood out tonight since the setting sun in the West was illuminating this in the East. These formations have something to do with airflow over Mt. Rainier, which is the mountain in this image. |

Here in Olympia the mountain is almost directly East of us. It's about 75 km away in this picture. Olympia is a three-sided bowl cut by glaciers that goes down the the Puget Sound. I live half-way up the side of the East flank of the bowl so I can't see the mountain from my flat. I have to go up the hill to see it.

Thanks, Log0ut. We've still got a lot of the old fire watches out there, and I'm pretty sure you can rent most of them for camping, sort of like renting a cabin. Most aren't actually used as fire watches anymore, though. Desolation Peak is still there, too. I didn't realize that Jack Kerouac spent time there.The next book I read is going to be The Dharma Bums.

I was editing polish wikipedia site about Kerouac few years ago, so "i know" that guy a bit
