Amerika - Force of Occupation

...Three Weeks Time

, ,

Remember the picture of the tree starting to turn that I posted just 17 days ago?

The view out my living room window documents the rapidity of time. The bright orange is that same tree repeating another cycle.
If I were still in my Goth phase -- Yes. Goth. Before all of this Emo tripe -- I'd write some bad poetry about changing seasons and slipping time. Instead, I had an unnerving desire to start my musical morning with the song Sinner off of Judas Priest's Unleashed in the East album. My penchant for superaltives aside, what a great fucking album. It's on my short list of Most Underrated Albums of All Time. They do a version of Diamonds and Rust on that album that makes all others pale, in my opinion.

I have bad dreams. I don't sleep sometimes. I've been up since Monday morning after about 3.5 hours of sleeping and bad dreams. I wonder when the dreams will stop.

I went through a stage of bad dreams disturbing my sleep. That was a few years ago and I still remember them clearly. Nowadays if a dream starts to go bad I usually wake up in a panic. You have my sympathies, bad dreams are almost indescribably horrible.

It's certainly the right time of year for disturbing dreams. Fall sometimes makes me shudder a bit when the dead leaves start blowing around.

I don't know a thing about dreams or psychology, but I like to think that the mind is working some things out.

I've never paid much attention to Judas Priest, though if you like the album, I think it will well be worth a listen. I like your taste in these things.

My dreams are about my divorce and my ex-wife. It was horrible. She has anger issues, and I don't handle confrontation very well emotionally. I'm sure that I am still suffering post-trauma stress. I spent an hour on the phone of a Domestic Abuse hotline once because I was afraid to go home. Things were really bad. She asked me once why I keep trying to stay together. I told her that everyday I wake up, it's a new day and I just try again. She said, "I don't know how to do that."

This will help me. Thanks. It reminds me to redouble my efforts not to start each day carrying baggage. Your approach is good.

Your approach is very good. I wish I had been as strong as this in the past!

Thanks, guys. She still divorced me.

I remember when she was left stymied when I exposed her to this concept: I sometimes have days where everything I do or touch turns in to a big steamer. One afternoon after a particularly awful day like that I announced, "I'm just done. I'm going to bed. Tomorrow's a new day and I'll try again [to have a better day] then, but right now I'm done."
