attitudes and lack of knowledge towards epilepsy

ATTITUDES ours, and the psychology behind them can and does assist the reduction of seizures
Below (although long winded) is an article I wrote some time ago about ‘how’ ‘why’ and ‘where’ attitudes are developed and come from. As we have become/ developed Epilepsy ‘WE’ need to change our attitudes for self preservation. It is for that reason I have posted most of the article I wrote to enable you, the reader to grasp what and where your attitude is at this time in your life, to understand your ‘self’.
Epilepsy is quite simply an overload of information that causes you to crash (same as a computer) . EVERYTHING your sences pick up is information be it audio, visual, voluntry or invulentry so as an example; we are all farmilier with ‘change your attitude towards disco’s and the flashing lights- to much information.

“Self” is categorized into four groups, these being Physical, Character, relationship and Inner self. Younger children refer more too physical activities as being self descriptive; (“I am, bat man, princes snow white). For older children the area of inner and character develops due to the older child developing an inner character trait of self and increasing reference to relations. Children become more aware of physical and conscious self instead of ideal self (“I am) ? “growing up and beginning to think for myself”, on which level of morality and social stance and respect is up to us to teach from birth. Like all things in life, you have to give to receive! Self consciousness (me, I am), it has long been considered that this is innate (born with) it would follow therefore that attitudes accompany our innate self consciousness due to our automated behaviour to a situation ie one that we know will cause a fit. For example, at maturity we look to the opposite gender! Generally speaking this drive is both innate and an attitude based upon the implementation of monogamous attitudes from parents, media and society. Religion with its implications that "self' is our soul is questionable based on our religious indoctering and the society we live in yet can also be used to create attitudes. In modernistic terms it is argued that self consciousness, attitudes and our innate self is dualistic, that is to say they are one of the same. It is as important though to accept that due to an attitude we all have behavioural responses, some good some bad and these can lead us to have an emotional deficit. To fit into our society we have to learn how to behave, alter our attitude! But also develop one that helps our health. In doing this it can take people out of there comfort zones leaving them uncomfortable, nervous or even vulnerable. Attitudes and self consciousness are innate/ media and society based constraints that are imposed upon individuals as they grow and develop from child hood through adolescence into adulthood where, the links and chains of opinions are enforced upon the next generation. A prime example of this can be seen in the modem child of today, there are few who are aware of the constraints of familiarity and or respect to there elders. This "mind set" is a complete change from thirty years ago clearly indicating that "attitudes" towards teaching respect (to create an attitude) has changed. It is apparent that, in this instance child rearing is not innate, it has to be taught but, when a child is in danger it is a self conscious innate response to protect it?
I introduced this essay by referring to attitudes and how they accompany our innate self consciousness due to our automated behaviour to a situation. Hence, the starting point for Happy reading? „Self‟ I am me (or am I) this topical research is as old as researchable recorded history, from the mass attitudinal hysteria towards the Jews before the Second World War to the good will drive to save the planet. These are all attitudes which when reaching a point of hysteria can affect self consciousness and can become an inherent attribute for the innate self of a following generation. For instance, cultural differences language barriers, if there behavioural beliefs and outcome evaluations are based on views of subjective normality (what is socially and culturally acceptable), the individual is left pondering if there behaviour will be approved or disapproved, fear of the unknown- US the epileptic? "Social psychology can and must include in its theoretical research preoccupations as a direct concern with the relationships between human psychological functioning and the large scale processes and events which shape this functioning and are shaped by it".
Contrary to this social influence on behaviour and to re enforce the point raised earlier With regards to the frustrating difficulty in researching social psychology of self we have a strange species called the individual/non conformist). When told that they can't court a particular person this "individual" will do the opposite, s/he will go out of the way to tie together with the person THEY want to court. In a drive to research self and attitude "Unfolding discourse analysis" in post modernism has been researched by raising the concept that "attitudes are locating objects of thought on dimensions of judgement and placing it in a hierarchy (quantitative research). Equally in research more interest in how people talk (qualatative research). This turn to language research though is seen as a model of contained, rational and stable individual who exist within and is governed by chains of cause and effect processes, which themselves can processes, which themselves can be analysed in terms of discourse variables and, ultimately, predicted and manipulated. (if I behave this way in this place with these people I will have a fit?) This "modem research" into dualism gives a more adequate insight into cause and effect based on both social and cultural differences ie the deprived may have an alternative insight to morality than the rich. The whole concept by noting that attitude research needs to focus on an individual's behaviour. The study of people in there environment will reveal social attitudes in response to social situations thus revealing the true grasp of the media, peer pressure and innate endoctorings, "I AM!" To study two different socio cultural groups and say there behavioural attitudes and self consciousness are the same for mankind would be far from accurate. It is in fact inaccurate due to the individuals self being a creation of the socio cultural foundations it has lived with. The embodiment of our self and attitudes is a result of our culture and breeding, but we the epileptics need to re asses our attitudes and behavioural patterns to certain situations thus, how we implement this "knowledge" into the next generation will be the resulting factor as to wether or not society prospers. As was said, "When people learn to care, when they accept the fact that there may be risks to caring and when they agree to take those risks in order to preserver there place in the community,” community may be prosperous!
