Recently attended the NAB Conference in Las Vegas. (Yeah That's me at right and no I didn't get to see The Beatles.) Learned some cool stuff, walked about a hundred and thirty seven miles and made a few friends.
Newtek was there (naturally). I use their SpeedEdit software to edit the program for broadcast every week. Spent some time with Graham Toms discussing the pros and cons of Z-Brush, Mudbox, Lightwave and3DS Max. Graham is super nice and took time to answer my questions and share his creative ideas.

Thanks Graham you rock! By the way He is now the proud owner of the coveted Basics DVD from Visual Bacon.
Also met and shared my textures with Marcel Dejong of Autodesk.

Super nice and helpful, Marcel suggested that Mudbox may take the lead from Z-brush in organic modeling and I think I agree. Mainly because it an easily accessible tool, with an ease of learning that can't be beat in 3D apps. Z-brush may do more and be an overall better program but its totally original way of thinking may be both positive AND negative attributes. Marcel showed me some cool Maya modeling tips. He plans to use the Visual Bacon Basics DVD as part of his next teaching endeavor. Thanks again Marcel for sharing the Maya instruction and best wishes to your students.Guess what Robert (if you catch this Dr.Z) I picked up Hash Animation Master from the hands of the Hash family themselves.(So there) Can't wait to have some time to jump into that app. looks like the bones are much easier than I've seen with other programs. (we'll see) Son of Hash said the show was slow for 3D in general. I picked up the program at a great show price. (And no you can't have mine, sorry.)

Among other cool people I met Liana Lehua founder of Creative Cartel, Eric Heroux with Toon Boom.
Had lunch with Clarke Smith the Robotic and Camera Crane Specialist at CBS News. Had a great talk. Very nice guy. Has his own company as well: http://www.clarkesmith.com/
NAB was worth it to get to meet and talk with other creatives, techs, and pros in the media fields.
Will post pics of NAB here ASAP.
