There is a set of approaches to concept working out in design, I suggest to divide them into two big directions: self-expression and the humanistic approach.
The aspiration to self-expression underlies the fine arts and art in general. The person, wants it that or not, in the work shows also the relation to its subject: things or ideas. Doing something the artist always the work passes through itself and it inevitably gets a shade of the person of the author. From here, often arising, similarity of persons on portraits of some the artists, some repetition of motives, colour scale, etc.
Creativity of the free artist — always self-expression, it shows the vision of subjects, people and their ideas. But how much the designer has on this right? Design — commercial art to give own interpretation of a theme interestingly, it is tempting and... Easily — to the actor to play itself always easier. The hobby for process of disclosing of the person and the sight at things can easily withdraw from the purpose, and the purpose of the designer, unlike the artist, self-expression, how many giving of a made out subject is not so much.
In other words, when to generation of ideas in design to become the general approach, first of all, self-expression, disclosing and giving of the I, can turn out original personal style, but it can turn out and so that all works become similar against each other. It is good, when in them the hand is learnt, but it is bad, when a portfolio of the designer similar on development of one big project.
