Waugh, Waugh and more Waugh

Alexander Waugh is to be given his own TV show examining 5 generations of Waughs on BBC4 starting Sun 9pm.
I went to school with Alex Waugh, though he was older than me, (his
sister Daisy was my contemporary) one of 'the gods'. He was athletic and handsome with
curly hair.

NOW look at the bloater! (scroll down) Wouldn't have recognised him in the street. Then I wonder if anyone would recognise me?
BTW there were not 'constant beatings', he was part of the school establishment -
although he did once streak nude round the first XV pitch under the glare of the
floodlights when the parents were coming out of the school play. He was suspended for this.
We were both in the choir and in the school play Macbeth with Tim Wilcox who - though older than both of us -
still looks EXACTLY the same as he did then- even the hair! - on BBCNews24 reading the news.

A older friend of mine who knew Auberon Waugh (small world it is) points out that the male Waugh male gene isn't good on the ageing front. Auberon looked very different when young - as can be seen in the article above - and it is unnerving just how much Alex has come to resemble his father in middle age, having started off in life so very different.
He's also started to dress in that 'Brideshead' way. Fair enough, his grandfather wrote the book which we studied at school for O levels (twas on the syllabus) which was rather strange.
Anyway I wish Alexander - as he calls himself now - all the best. He was rather good fun to be around. Can't really be anything but complimentary about Mr Wilcox either I'm afraid.
Captain of the first XV, Macbeth in school play, Oxbridge student all through through glandular fever. Thoroughly decent bloke. Lucky sod with his full head of hair. Might consider a change of style though after 20-odd years...
