The maunga {mountain} is called Maunga Aorangi, I will accept Mt Aoraki, as I know people down south find it difficult, due to there venacular, to pronounce 'ng'. 'ng' is pronounced like the 'ng' in 'sing'.
and the 'r' is pronounced almost like a 'd' in the english language, as far as the tongue {arero}, is concerned....Flicking the arero off the roof of the mouth...
I wil 'NOT' accept, in any way, Mt Cook,....get over it. Captain Cook came here by accident.
He was in the Pacific to see Venus do its thing...By his queens request. I will accept, He got a few bearings correct...that is all.

Re: COOK AND VENUS.. Cook was not only captain of the barque Endeavour and leader of an expedition to the south Pacific to make observations of the 1769 transit of Venus across the sun,observing the transit from Tahiti on 3 June, he was also employed as one of the expedition’s astronomers.
