A row in the pub

After playing golf last week I went to the pub with my golf friends. As the evening progressed we started talking about global warming issues (something that should be categorised in the same way that politics and religion are in pubs - DO NOT MENTION!!). My friend is opposed to doing anything about becoming greener and says that he will not be green until China and India stop polluting and building fossil fuelled power plants. It got a little uglier then, as everyone else joined in and told him what an idiot he was being. To add fuel to the fire I asked him if he was going to get the round of drinks in or did we have to wait until India and China got them in first before he would go to the bar.

His point was this: what is the point of the UK doing what they can to curb global warming etc. when there are other countries, massive in comparison that do nothing - or seemingly nothing? It's a tricky issue. I am in the mind that if everyone thought like that then awareness would never grow. And awareness IS growing. Certainly it is across the UK. If it wasn't for more people embracing the idea of not trying to make a global impact but just looking after their own sector, their own lives and their own waste the world would become a cleaner place.

He eventually calmed down and got the drinks in cool

Look at what we could lose!My stupid Dog

USA truck stops are the same. It is wise not to bring up politics, religion or the war.

Great post!
