Rubbish By Kilo?

, ,

I see that the UK Government or local councils (probably on the say so of the Government) have decided that it might be a cool idea to start charging us by kilo for the waste that we produce. Now, don't get me wrong, I am all for lessening the impact on the environment by being responsible with waste and recycling as much as possible, but don't you think it's a bit of a cop out? The councils are certainly onto a good thing here.

We pay council tax to have rubbish removed: a considerable amount of money in some areas, and rising all the time. We are already capped to one bin full of rubbish per week and expected to dispose of what is extra ourselves. Not that I mind taking plastics to the plastic recycling place or bottles to the bottle recycling place, even though they are in separate directions and a few miles apart.

However, is it fair that the price to remove waste keeps increasing whilst what is actually taken is decreasing? Or is it the councils taking advantage and taking advantage by playing the environmentally friendly card? I see it happening more and more, global warming costs the taxpayer more money per year. And I *want* to be green. I can't imagine how others feel who have no passion for a healthy environment.
