Pebble In The Shoe Of Time

I try to get at least one camping trip in up in the old growth forest on Salmon River, Mt Hood, (see prior posts-previous years.) Part of the area's appeal for me is the sweet, clean air, relative quiet, and the easy road access. My trip was delayed a day to Wednesday this week by my last minute discovery of impending, immanent tire failure on my van. So I ended up buying a new set of 4 tires which, not unlike a new pair of athletic shoes, "felt" great! I am thinking about writing a testimonial letter to the tire manufacturer: they are the best light truck tires I have ever driven!
Well, shortly after getting settled in to my campsite, the relative peace of the forest was disrupted by the arrival of a maintenance crew doing road work very close to my campsite. Fortunately, they did move on down the road within a couple hours but, sadly, parked the equipment nearby which they came back for the next morning at 7 AM!
