Some are more equal than others...

Id never heard of this country until today, but the Belarus elections are under way and one of the candidates had a pop band sing a song about him. Look at the lyrics.

Well-set and slim
He won’t teach you evil
Father can bridle anyone
Father is stronger than the rest

He will settle conflicts
He is reliable and calm
He just throws a glance – and you see
Who is the master in the house

Chorus:

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Listen to Father!
In the morning, day, and night…
Listen to Father!
If you feel bad
Listen to Father!
If you are ok
Listen to Father!!!

a video is available.

Now, this is nothing new. Politicians have always used music stars to support their campaigns, especially here in the States. I wonder if the musicians get paid to play at their conventions or if they simply do it because they support him/her.

Not too long ago there was an auctioning off of Johnny Cash related items, the GOP and the American Gas Association held it to raise funds for the Bush campaign. If that's not spitting in the face of the man, I dont know what is.

Lyric of the day

Inoculated City
(The Clash)

The soldier boy for his soliders pay
Obeys theeargent at arms whatever he says

The seargent will for his seargent's pay
Obeythe general order of the battle play

The generals bow to the government
Obey the charge you must not relent

What of the neighbors and the prophets in bars?
What are they saying in the publiz bazaar?
We are tired of the tune
You must not relent

At every stroke of the bell in the tower there goes
Another boy from another side

The bulletins that steady come in say those
Familiar words at the top of the hour

The jamming city increases its hum
And those terrible words continue to come

Through bras music of government hear those
Guns tattoo a roll on the drums

No-one mentions the neighboring war
No one knows what they're fighting for
We are tired of the tune
You must not relent

I also checked out V for Vendetta at the local cinema, I want to read the graphic novel now. A lot of symbolism and scary similarities to whats going on today, and where we're headed. I dont think it's a matter of IF, but more like WHEN.

(I hope I can keep this blog up, I really have some neat ideas for it, and I hope you can bare with me)

I should probably introduce myself...

My name is Adan, but you can call me Adam. I am a Clash Fanatic. Im 20 years old, by the time I was born, The Clash was history. I never got to see them play live, never felt the excitement of a brand new Clash record coming (except for Re-realeases, re-masters, DVDs etc.)I came across Satch's Forums two years ago and my collection of Clash bootlegs has since grown solely through
trading and/or generous people from all parts of the world who sent me great stuff via snail mail.

My YouTube page is http://youtube.com/users/adamramone most of the videos there have been captures that I made from my collection. I prefer live footage to live audio. Though I still have a formidabble collection of live audio. This band has been a driving force thorughout my late teens, though I am not your stereotypical punk kid, but I can say that I am a law-abiding(sometimes) conscientious objector of bullshit.

I will post rants, articles and links and try and relate all of it to The Clash. I also love Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, although I really havent gotten into Big Audio Dynamite (Mick's post-clash band) I have to admit that I've never really given them a chance, but will soon, I promise.
Im on Satch's Forums, although not so much as of now, drop by and say hi, my name on there is MontgomeryClift oh and the board is at http://clashcity.com/boards
