But here at Vega I just enjoyed the beauty and feeling of old history of the boats and there Captains and crue!!
I saw a lot of old sailors. And there where no problem to see that they where just that, old sailors and captains!
I began to think and see them in my imagination as they had been and lived there lives. Hard lives on a sometimes cruel sea. Hard to earn what they needed to support there families. And they did not always know if they should return safely or not.I do not think this old sailors would like to change there lives but I think they are the last of a kind.
I wonder how many times they have leaved there loved ones for moth of fishing at Lofoten and the nordic seas and how many of them who died out there . Still fishermen dies at sea every year outside Norways coastline!
I could not help myself I started to take shots at these men and I want to show the to you!
When I see them I can not help thinking of the old Scandinavian folksong " Who can sail without the wind"
The lyrics goes like this:
Who can sail without the wind
who can row without oars
Who can leave there love,
without falling any tears
I can sail without the wind
I can row without oars
But I could never leave my love
without falling tears
And this is what it sound like in Swedish, sad and true!
