Browser Fetish: about Opera, part 1

opera, browser fetish

As some of my vigilant blog readers (umm... my wife

) have noticed, I started using the new social browser called Flock. It is still in beta but it provides a glimpse of what the social browsing, or simply web 2.0, is all about. I could start advertising its features, but you can just go to their
website and see for yourself. I kind of like the social aspect of the browsing, so I decided to give it a try, especially when you can set it up so that my.opera blog and Flock are synchronized (i.e. you can launch the blog editor from the browser, drag and drop items like images, etc.). So some of my entries have "blogged with Flock on the bottom". Anyhow, this post is not about Flock, though. It is rather about why I miss Opera when I use something else instead.
And so, item number one: SPEED! Perhaps it is the most missed feature here. Any other browser is so slow, it is not even funny. It takes a long time to get them going, while Opera starts moments after I click the sexy "O" button. And it goes past the start up speed. Any web page opens so much faster in Opera. It's interface is fast and responsive. To sum it all up, Opera is the
Ferrari (or
Koenigsegg
) of browsers!
