Tebūnie naktis 2009

Absolutely near to fiasco... This is what I can say about the event called "Let there be night" :ninja: The shortest night of the year Vilnius citizens and its guests do not sleep due to the fact that organisation "Vilnius - European culture capital of 2009" led us to new tradition, to spend all the shortest night of the year in various events  Definitely, a dream is quite beutiful, but reality is that this year there was too much inaccuracies and lags Homer: Doh! Fortunately, I with my friends were in a very good mood so we didn't give it prominence :hat: We were very happy of what we managed to see  Mimes, musicians, fakirs, dancers... This is what you could see last night in Vilnius  If you wasn't here, probably you might want to see at least some photos  MY PHOTOS :wizard:

1000 km around Lithuania

Last weekend three beutiful persons: me, Vejunas and Toma decided to take part in touring rally near Kaunas  It is about 100 km from our home city Vilnius  It was very early when we started our trip around Lithuania... But we took Jurga with her energetic doggy to Kaunas and that small cute doggy woke up us fully P: After some time we came to registration and started touring rally where we had to tent, make a fire, calculate azimuth, find check points in a forest and so on  After the rally we decided not to come back to Vilnius, but go ahead to Šiauliai (about 140 km from Kaunas) There we took part in street challange  Next day Vėjūnas said that he doesn't want to come back to Vilnius so early (it was about 15 pm :D) So he suggested to go to Palanga (about 140 km from Šiauliai) :D And this suggestion was brilliant  Between these two towns we also visited a private zoo of some animals  At last, when we came to Palanga the sky became absolutely blue  It was so relaxing... But everything what is good ends... About 9 pm we started our trip home  We were very tired, but that 340 km didn't look so much when a good company is in one car  We hope this wasn't the last time of such spontaneous trip around Lithuania P: Here we have some photos

Regatta of Neris

, , , ...

Lithuania is celebrating its name 1000 birthday :hat: It means that 1000 years ago some monks came to our country and wrote that near Baltic sea live Balts and their country is called Lithuania  Due to the fact we are 1000 years old, Vilnius decided to make a regatta in river Neris which flows just through city centre  Everything looked so cool, that I repent not taking part in this race... :ko: Made next year it will be organized too?.. The most spectacular regatta was between Viking ships from all Lithuanian universitys' I have made some very glorious photos

DJs Mini Cooper

, , , ...

"Krasta Auto" has just brought to Lithuania a brand new Mini Cooper designed and created for a real DJ  To my honest oponion it is so cool for a party somewhere outside... All equipments look very serious and not cheap at all :D You can check photos of it just right here --> PHOTOS

"Swedbank" Vilnius rally

, , , ...

Almost 50 powerful rally cars, brave drivers and narrow village gravelled roads  These are three main elements of rally  But sometimes such sport spectating can be corrupted by terrible weather and bad organization monkey This year 2'nd stage of Lithuanian rally championship it almost became reality... But it didn't! Early in the morning it was raining and we didn't have no umbrella :right: Also we found it difficult to reach places where we wanted to spectate rally... But after half of all rally sectors when it was a break of rally we bought raincoats (1 raincoat almost 1 euro :D) and our mood got better  Moreover it stoped raining and the sun came out and we comprehended how to see as much rally cars as possible  Despite all the problems weekend was perfect  We saw a lot of rally, now we have raincoats :D and I made some gorgous photos for you  However if you doppn't like watching photos in a traditional way, please watch a video of my photos

Street musucian day 2009

, , , ...

Imagine lots of people take their music instruments and walk to play into streets :sing: Looks like a view from a paradise? Definitely not if you live in Vilnius which is European capital of culture 2009 :king: "Street musician day"is an anual music festival which is changing every year. In 2009 it looked very different from 2008. One or two years ago there were really less people listening and playing street music, but almost all of it was natural (without amplifiers, speakers...) It is the biggest disadvantage of this year festival. Those who were playing music without speakers were too quiet to be heard... rip However, I saw some talents who managed to attract huge crowds of people only with their wooden music instruments :headbang: One more thing about this year street muscian day  I still can't understand why so many young DJs decided to play their music which is almost the same? Maybe in this way they think that they are famous, beautiful and rich (like pop stars :D)? But remember that simple people don't like "stars" :sherlock: I think this is why nobody were listening to them  Try not to show your disrespectness to the audience  I could talk and talk about street musician day, because I like it so much! flirt But probably you don't have so much time :smurf: So this is a brief description of this year music festival's differences  Now please check these glamorous pictures :D

Merkurijus '09: ribų nėra

, , , ...

The biggest, the most exciting, the most beutiful, the most... This is how I could describe Vilnius University Faculty of Economics days :wizard: We call them "Mercury days" (ltu. Merkurijaus dienos) 4 days of various sports, superb lectures and concerts :hat: :drunk: This year I was one of the organizers and now will show you what a stuning festival we made  D. Grybauskaite, P. Austrevicius, A. Giniotis, TWNKL (InCulto), Metal on Metal, "Keistuoliai"... Maybe some of these names you know too? Definitely there was some problems, mistakes, but we managed to cope with them  And this is how we became better team  So now please check out pictures  After each picture there will be a small description

IIHF World Championship. Div. IA. Vilnius 2009

Lithuanians are not ready for ice hockey championship in Switzerland:frown: Our country is small and ice hockey is popular only in a one little town, Elektrenai. That is why we can't defend against Kazakhstan, Slovania or even Japan. Just some years ago ice arenas were built in other cities too and young boys started playing this game. So it means that we will have ice hockey players not only from Elektrenai after 10-15 years P: Better later than never... Although, now we can beat Australians and Croatians  These two victories showed that we are not so bad and made more than 9000 lithuanians to come to Siemens Arena in order to support our brave ice hockey team :sing: Lithuania took 4'th place in group A, but showed that next year we will get higher place, I promise  Of course, I made some photos

EFSA 7'th birthday

EFSA has just celebrated its 7'th birthday :hat: Of course I was there too :king: But because of very tiring day I wasn't planning to stay all night (I arrived at 11 p.m.) As always I ask you to guess if I staid there less than 2 hours? :D Definitely not :D Such atmosphere, people and music injected lots of energy to me and I forgot my exhaustion  Everybody were so energetic and active that it looked like it wasn't the end of long long week  Thanks for them, because they made that night so special  It was simple but very enjoyable birthday with dances :headbang:, auction of EFSA remains :sherlock:, lots of laugh :jester:, a little bit alcohol :drunk: and huge birtday cake:hat: Want some photos? You know that if I'm writing something, I have what to show :D HERE YOU GO!!!

Dakar 2009 - participants, mechanics, tracks

The most complicated rally in the world - Dakar desert rally  Lithuania is small and here live only 3 million people, but we have lithuanians who are participating annually and make us pride to be lithuanians  In 2008 Dakar was canceled due to the fact that 4 French tourists were killed in Mauritania. Organizers weren't clear if they manage to ensure security. And then in 2009 Dakar rally moved from Africa to South America... I was thinking that everything will be worse and since then Dakar rally won't be interesting anymore, but I was absolutely wrong  Happily South America's deserts, hills and wheather isn't similar to Africa's. Nature in Latin America much more dangerous!!! This rally started 183 cars, 251 motorbikes and 83 trucks. There was 1 car (A. Petraitis and A. Lekavicius) and 3 motorbikes (M. Slapšys, B. Bardauskas, Š. Paliokas) from Lithuania. But finished only 1 car and 1 motorbike. A. Petraitis and A. Lekavicius took 26'th place and M. Slapsys was 99'th. All in all, this year Dakar rally was so good that I started to wait for the next year just before it finished in 2009 :D Here are some PHOTOS from Dakar rally exhibition in Vilnius
