July 3rd, 2006A Tribute to Vernal Sunshine
---By captain-of-soul

Vernal sunshine, you do not know how longingly I look upon you,
You must be she I was seeking;
I have somewhere surely lived a life of joy with you,
All is recalled in the time fleeting.
You gave me the pleasure of your eyes and face,
I was lost in your grace;
You took the warmth of my caress and whisper,
I forgot the taste of lunch and supper.
I am to think of you while i wake at night alone,
I am to wait, till the day we meet advent-prone.
This sentimental poem of captain's made me once more think about the poem below.
Think Of You
---By an unknown writer

In the morning
When the sun
Is just starting to light the day
I am awakened
And my first thoughts are of you
At night
I stare at the dark tress
Silhouetted against the quiet stars
I am entranced into a complete peacefulness
And my last thoughts are of you

My diary
June 30th, 2006 Rainy
Although many friends of mine had told me never to buy things in scenic spots, yet my neck and wrists have been ornamented with necklaces of crystal and a bracelet of jadeite: My handbag has been filled with souvenirs and cosmetics of pure natural plant extract, which in a way are owed to the lead of guides. And simultaneously I also have been confered the "laudatory title" --- Crazy person in buying. A little expensive as these products are, yet they are all my favorites~! So I don't feel to have swallowed a gudgeon.
After four hours’ bus from Lijiang to Dali and eight hours’ night train from Dali to Kunming, in the early morning we flied back to Chengdu again. Though exhausted and sleepy, we still made full use of one day’s free activities, savoring Chengdu’s snacks, and strolling about two places of interest --- Dufu’s Thatched Cottage and The Wuhou Temple.

Dufu’s Thatched cottage situated on the bank of the Huanghe Stream in the western Suburbs of Chengdu is the former residence of Dufu(712-770), a great poet of Tang Dynasty(618-907). When he stayed in Chengdu, Dufu lived here for nearly four years and wrote more than 240 poems. In the exhibition hall, we saw some of his poetry had been translated into many languages. He is honored as sage of poetry and his cottage as a holy land in the history of Chinese literature for his brilliant achievements in poetry. Dufu’s Thatched Cottage has been listed as an important cultural relic under the protection of the state by the state Council.
The Wuhou Temple was initially built in 223 AD, now covers 140000 square meters. It is consist of Liubei’s Huiling and temples of Zhuge Liang and other ministers in Shuhan of the Three Kingdoms. In the shrine to the Three Kngdoms, we authentically comprehended its rich and generous cultural accumulation.
The pleasant and relaxing journey is coming to an end. Although tiresome, yet it broadens my outlook and knowledge and in a sense, adjusts my mood, yet a certain feeling halting in my bosom will never fade~!
The next destination of my journey will perhaps be arranged for the time being to Tibet

After one and a half hours’ flight, we landed on the Kunming airport. On setting foot on the way to Jiuxiang, colorful pictures along with words in the white walls standing on the both sides of National Road 324 greeted the eye. Watching attentively, we knew these pictures were drawn to reflect the famous “Yunnan’s eighteen queer things”. For instance, “Young girls are called old ladies.”; “Locust can be served as a dish that goes with wine.”; “Have a love affair carrying babies.” etc, which were very interesting!
With the guide’s excellent explanations along the road, unwittingly we reached the scenic spot --- Jiuxiang lava cave. After lunch we walked towards the resort. It lies in a whole mountain and is a comprehensive scenic spot, which features in Karst landscape, natural scenery, human landscape and nationality custom. And also just as the saying goes, “Enjoy Shilin on the earth, but Jiuxiang under the earth; Shilin’s beauty lies in peaks, while Jiuxiang;s in gullies.” Directly entering the entrance of the cave, we heard deafening water drawing our attention to a torrential fall flowing down to a gully, in which the currents were swift. If I alone had been here, it would have made me bloodcurdling! We walking further a little, another scene of great momentum caught our eyes. That is male and female falls, which are like the yellow River of hanging by the feet. Going upstairs and downstairs, all the way we found in the cave, there are still caves, rivers and the sky. Then before our eyes appeared a field full of idyllic flavor, which is really a rare and marvelous spectacle. At that moment, I truly felt how splendid our natural miracles are~! No wonder many tourists said; “ No touring Jiuxiang, coming to Yunnan in vein”.

With the elevation of 3000 metres, Jiuzhaigou belongs to plateau moist climate and permanently covered with snow on the top of the mountain. In summer, the average temperature is between 19 and 22 degrees centigrade. So when getting up early in the morning, we all put on thicker clothes. After twenty minutes’ ride, we got to the resort; then a medium-size bus took us to march up towards the top of the mountain. All the way, appreciating the fabulous sceneries through the windows and listening to the local guide’s explanations, we got some idea of how fantastic the sights are.

We got off the bus at the highest scenic spot--- Long Sea, which is the largest and deepest sea in Jiuzhaigou. Many local people showed us their national clothes. I tried one on me, dressing up a person from Zangzu and taking several photos with the dreamlike scenery.
Now it was the time to walk by ourselves on “The Earthly Paradise”. Jiuzhaigou is famous for one lake, two beaches, three gullies, four falls and eighteen groups of seas. Sauntering on the plank made of wood and iron sheet , and built above the streams, we really watched “ Water is the spirit of Jiuzhaigou”. Lakes, springs, falls, rivulets, rivers and beaches are joined together; Flit and tranquility are combined; Hardness are coupled with softness; Innumerable colors and graceful carriages are unfolded before our eyes; Falls are strewn at random, singing loudly and
chanting lowly; Large and small groups of seas are dark blue and transparent; Green trees. Snowy peaks and the azure sky are cast into the water; Walk one step and we would see a quite different color; Water are flowing between trees; Trees are growing in the water; Flowers are blooming in the center of water. This sentence “No need to enjoy water after returning from Jiuzhaigou” had now really been confirmed.

After more than three hours’ flight and five hours’ sleep, at last we set foot on the way to the terrific scenic spot famed as “The Earthly Paradise” and “The Fairytale World” --- Jiuzhaigou.
Due to the Jiuzhaigou’s airport was being extended, we had to go there by a tourist bus, which yet to be fortunate provided us a fabulous chance and long enough time to enjoy the beautiful sight and places of interest along the road. After the brief introduction of Sichuan, our guide pointed to a faraway street. Following the direction of her forefinger, owing to a far distance, we only saw an obscure street, then a love story between Sima Xiangru and Zhuo Wenjun was narrated. Oh, now we knew this was the Elopement Street. What also left me deeper impression was the Figure Poem recited by our guided full of passion. It was this touching poem by Zhou Wenjun that redeemed Sima Xiangru’s heart. At that time, in the bottom of my heart, the feeling of admiration to Zhou Wenjun’s talent for literature arose spontaneously.
With our tourist bus marching forward to the destination, we gradually sensed the nationality custom of Zangzu and Qiangzu. Taking the opportunity of our bus being filled by gas, I rode on a yak, experiencing the ride feeling.

Nearly five hours’ ride later, looking out of the windows, we noticed an ancient building. Our guide told us it was built in memory of Princess Wencheng and Songzan Ganbu as a consequence of their tremendous contributions to Zangzu in culture and economy.
All the way being the twine road, with the bus’s left and right turning, several colleagues of mine had become faint and began to throw up.. After half a day’s ride, eventually we arrived at our restaurant very near the resort. Under the persuasion of our guide, after the dinner, we visited a family of Zangzu. First they presented pure white hadas, and then potatoes, flapjacks and the wine made of highland barley were served. A boy performed the ceremony before drinking
and how to brew butter. Tasting the sweet wine, listening to the girls’ songs, we became relaxed, then a singing in antiphonal style between us and those boys and girls started. At the height of our enthusiasm, we were called out to dance with them around the fire on which there was a sheep being roasted for us in a commodious yard. This was really an exciting bonfire evening party. At the time, we enjoyed ourselves and had fully forgotten the tiredness from the long ride.
