My friend's poetry
This painting dedicated to me is from Timm. It was drawn by Timm's deskmate~! I post it here specially to thank the two talented and lovely boys~!
Timm's deskmate is not only skilled in drawing but is fairly creative in writing~! The following is a Ci by him. What amazes me most is that he should creat a tune "观飞雪 ". What a creative mind~! This Ci delivers a clear meaning. From the description of the natual scenery, the author thinks of the cruel life which elevates the theme of the poem. And overall, there is a beautiful rhyme"ang".So no doubt this is a success attempt at writing poetry for a senior student.
观飞雪
昨日春意盎
夜袭新草芳
不料白云尽墨染
突降飞霜
墨去天泛黄
必是沙尘扬
料得人生亦如此
阴晴无常

Tune: Watch Swirling Snow
Yesterday spring was much in the air
Yet night struck the scent of sprouts
White clouds dyed black was not expected
Swirling snow suddenly fell
The yellow sky driving off dark
Provided a stage of sandstorm
Presume life is just like that
Cloud and fine are so changeable

Vision on Flying Snow
Spring lavished yesterday’s thin air
Yet night pillaged new blooms of fair
White cloud dyed dark from nowhere
Flying flakes suddenly appear
Yellow supersedes black
Sandstorm is sure on track
Life must be in the same range
Shade and fine unexpected interchange
---Translated by Rhapsodia---
Yesterday lavished the Spring light,
But the fresh grass raided by the night.
White clouds dyed black unexpectedly,
Snowflakes began to dance suddenly.
The sky turned from black to yellow.
Sure to be sandstorms on the flow.
Of the same unpredictability the life must be,
Changes of weather who can foresee?

My friend's poetry
Scottish Heather
Below the crust sopped soil been folded twice
Off way in gray, roots, sloughs, the heather heaps
A sunray’s lease has all but in a trice
In snow and sleet winter built into steeps
With shattered chips around her couch is made
I see fawn flowers but refuse to leave
The stem to join the underneath decayed
For once betray how and what to conceive
By inches silent nonentity crawls
Has nature failed a visage to portray?
Her sanity lost for a poet befalls
Of Stratford or of Cambridge staves yet nay
So long as tinge tints shall she never wilt
So long as bagpipe afar tones in kilt
-- Rhapsodia (Feb 2007)
Note:
1) Heather is the Scottish national flower. They are perennial shrubs and grow in large clusters on hills almost everywhere in Scotland. They are tough plants, generally on poor soils and few trees around. They can survive severe winters in Scottish highland. The flowers are small and usually not very bright in color.
2) Stratford -- short for Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare.
3) Cambridge – University of Cambridge, where many prestigious poets are from, also the place where our Chinese famous poet 徐志摩 studied

At last I have much more time to devote all my equability to appreciating such a dainty works contributed by our great teacher Rhapsodia.
Thanks to out dear sister Rhapsodia’s brief introduction on the background which underlies this poem, for readers now we are clearly aware of the homophony of this poem: the author’s love to the great nation of Scotland. Sure here “heather” is the Scottish national flower, and naturally it symbolizes the great nation.
The first quartet sets off the strong nature of this flower having the aid of the scene: harsh winter. In the second quartet, the author also employs the description of the scene to express the author’s preference for heather. From the author’s introduction “Those years were also a period of 'lost' and 'shift' in the author's life, when her career had to be given up and future was in ambiguity.”, we can figure out: although the author’s obsessed with this nation, yet she has to “betray”( leave) and go to somewhere else, so arise spontaneously a gust of extreme complex emotions she can’t conceive. At this moment even nature loses her sanity as well as the staves by great poets of Stratford and Cambridge all fail to portray the visage of this complicated emotions. The couplet further garnishes and accentuates the theme: the author’s love to the lofty nation.
The above is just my humble comprehension to this poem seeming abstruse. I guess there is perhaps a bit of deviation with the author’s intention in my understanding. Anyway I have to admit, but for some materials of the background, I would really treat this conspicuous works as intricacies.
(This line: “I see fawn flowers but refuse to leave.” We are apt to taking “see” and “refuse” as owning the same subject “I”, so at first I understood this line as “I refuse to leave”)
Thanks, dear sister for sharing us such a refined works needing carefully chewing to reach its soul, so no doubt it is a very nice works.
Dear sister, your graceful poem has stirred my fondness for this flower surviving the adverse circumstances in Scotland Highland.

Thank you so very much, dear Alicelotus! You have a very powerful mind, please allow me to say "powerful"; because you have such a rich storage in your mind that gives you the energy and space, the power to come up with such an explicit comprehension.
As there is no rule in composing that limit the good lines, there is no rule in understanding. It is such a personal, individual, mental activity to read and appreciate a piece of poem that no one is wrong anyway.
---By Rhapsodia---

Perhaps my power originates form something behind. In some poetry, there is always something vague that only the author himself holds and reflects him/her to the lines. In this marvelous poem of yours I guess more or less I have smelt this flavor. So thanks again for such a fabulous sharing with us~!

At a time when faith is so precarious that it can hardly withstand any trying cirmusmances and likely to wear thin and out "in a trice", we particually celebrate the spirit to hold dear what we believe in and what we seek after. And "Dust thou are, to dust returnest,/Was not spoken of the soul." Whatever fate befalls , it is the inspirational soul behind that we always remember and extol.

My friend's poetry
Love for Snow
---By CalmSea

I once recalled how virgin snow had sung
And danced in air and thawed into my hand
The cold invaded palm but heart felt stung
Disappeared silver crystals my life bland
'Be back!' a sound to ask you never thaw
For long... developed deep a yearning sigh
No More! shall I avoid the winter raw
So as I keep my world a saintly dye
At longtime absence, the air full of grime
Your graceful dance, a blanket lays the dust
Without your pureness, poems out of rhyme
Your mellow tune, a smoother slicks the gust
A flake of white for you I want to be
With undefiled your soul, embrace the free…

My friend's poetry
By Chance
---Captain_Of_Soul
A cloud I am in the welkin namely,
Over the wave of your heart my shadow casts casually;
No need to take a surprise at any rate,
Let alone go and celebrate,
In no time I shall evaporate.
Dark night found us meeting off the bay,
You and I, on different way;
If you remember, no more than better,
Yet preferably to be a forgetter,
For the kindling we have in encounter
偶然
---徐志摩
我是天空里的一片云,
偶尔投影在你的波心——
你不必讶异,
更无须欢喜——
在转瞬间消灭了踪影。
你我相逢在黑夜的海上,
你有你的,我有我的,方向;
你记得也好,
最好你忘掉
在这交会时互放的光亮!

My friend's poetry
_
Do not cry, my friend

Is there a window
From which the despair is seen hollow
Looking at the glitzy world
That makes the empty dream swirled
Some sobbing and some soothing
Some aging and some losing
Always is the reference
Everyone's end makes no difference
Is there a love
free from harm
Thousands of hearty words
buried in the lapsing years
no wines you can not react
no pains you can always forget
Go ahead
Never look back
Do not cry, my friend
For your sadness i am the appeasing land
Believe in yourself, stick to your road
dazzling world full of stubborn gain and loss untold
Your sorrow i have known
With me you are neither lonely nor alone
In the ocean of rolling crowd
Hardly get friends we are proud
this feeling, the very thing
Can not ignore, shine or rain

My friend's poetry
I am deeply touched by this poem of Gopal's, so posted it here for sharing~!
No More ‘Goodbye’s!

Every now ‘n’ then we meet so many people
On the way of our life’s journey
Together we travel for a few miles
‘N’ then we bid ‘goodbye’ and go apart
Recollections fail to collect every one of them
‘Cause few of them leave their footprints behind
Time brings them once again as if from nowhere
A new chance to hold their hands tight
‘N’ to walk with them up to your destination
‘N’ now say no more ‘goodbye’s!

My friend's poetry
The Forest Of Dense Fog
(By Cool)
A punny and saucy bird singing all the way
Flying into a forest with dense fog unwittingly
Singing or intermission by ever and again
For bramble will wind her occasionally
She will be rejoiced at meeting the similar kinds
Still mope at seeing the sorrowful and lonely soul meanwhile
But she can sing anything she has encountered or continued
Ever withdrawed for hurt to treat herself
While failure in hearing the sounds of calling around
Ceaseless tears rolled down without any help
Once she recalls the mirth ever existing at every turn
The feeling of thirst for return can’t bear anymore
Turn round to fly in the forest of dense fog
She thinks and sure of that it's her home
Never leave and can’t be away forever
With all the sunshine and raindew
She shuttles through the twinking shadow of leaves
Never be hesitated and strayed anymore
Just for one sound---home's sound
A paradise which supplies her all mildness and caress
Oh,missing in the forest of dense fog, dying~
Wait For You---By Gopal

Nights pass by dreaming of you
'N' days thinking of you
Evenings veil me with loneliness
Mornings' breeze touches me with sweetness
Of the moments we spent once together
Of the rains we got drenched in together
O the roses never touched so soft before!
It's you that my eyes are looking for
The petals of my lips
Miss your kiss
An unquenchable thirst I feel
In an undying pain I live
Embracing my loneliness in my arms
Now all I do is wait for you!

My friend's poetry
On a sunny morning day,
I wandered along Okudama bay.
When all at once i saw a crowd,
A host of cherry cloud.
Pink petals flashing in the lake's eye,
White flowers growing in azure sky.
I gazed--and gazed but little thought,
Waiting an angelic breeze to be brought.
This is the Innisfree i dream,
With my dearest the garden I trim.
No bustling night and day,
Far away from pavement grey.
Then my heart with pleasure fills,
Even in the valley, rock or hills.

My friend's poetry
I have prayed for it,
since I came here
It is the snow my dear.
In the bleak morning,
Blusterous snow fell,
No one could foretell.
I know—
The snow fell all the night,
It made a blanket soft and white
It covered ground,
Without a single sound
Whiteness beyond.
I see----
The snow still falling,
Fluttering and swirling.
The little girls in skirts,
Trekking for school,
At a weekend cruel.
The tottering granny,
Walking in fear,
Grocery not so near.
Someone says-----
You look like sugar
But you are not sweet.
Someone likens you
To cotton,
But you are not warm.
O, snow, do you know,,
Glade humming a serenade
When a snowman madeIn the street,
Snow is still falling,
Fluttering and swirling.

My friend's poetry
If there is one day,
A goodbye you would say,
I am about to lose my way.
Melting into the rolling crowd,
I shall not ask any promise, whether
what happens, enough we are together.
Dribs and drabs of memory,
Can not afford to all life's salary.
In spite of time lapsing,
I merely care about you.
Readily i take your breathing,
To get a confidant in my life's whole,
even ending my time though.
So I beg you not to leave me alone,
Your unique affection can not be a clone
