Yesterday was my twenty second birthday. I did absolutely nothing durring the day except play Bioshock and read comics. Very relaxing. I had a great Pork and Mashed Potato dinner made for me and was then taken to see two of my favorite bands; Saosin and Every Time I Die. Then I had a hot fudge cake for dessert. I got some sweet presents too.

Top 10 favorite PC Games

Here we go...

1) Deus Ex - The story and single player falls together perfectly in this game
2) Operation Flashpoint - My all time favorite shooter
3) Rainbow 6 - Someone made a game out of my dreasm when I was 13
4) Jedi Knight 2 - The Star Wars geek in me ate this up
5) Mafia - I almost didn't give this game the shot it deserved...Glad I did
6) Half Life 2
7) Commandos 2 - I could spend hours on each level in this game
8) Max Payne 2 - The gitty noir story and superd action elements elevate this game above others
9) Aliens vs Predator 2 - Scariest Game I've ever played
10) Tron 2.0 - Monolith wins again


These games all had extremely solid Single Player parts. I guess thats what I'm attracted to the most in gaming today.

My Impressions of the Steam Community Beta

Steam community is the much anticipated unofficial rival to Windows Live that valve has been developing for some time. A while back they announced it would be released in July and yet here we are in August, but atleast we have a beta to play around with.

Upon activating the beta through the regular version of steam (an extremely easy process) steam then restarts and has an added tab called "community". From this tab you can keep track of any events you have coming up, what groups you belong to, and any invites you have. Your friends are displayed on the right hand side and you can see if they are in game, chatting, or online.

Something I was most impressed with was the groups. Upon being invited to a group you can go to that groups homepage and it will list all of the avatars of each group member and above that will give you a count of who is chatting and who is in game. If you mouse over these counts it will highlight the avatars with the corresponding colors (green for in game and blue for chatting). Groups also contain their own chatroom which you can talk to from inside and outside a game.

While ingame you can hit Shift+Tab to bring up the Steam Community. It seems very well integrated.

Overall I think Valve is heading in the right direction. With some more features Steam Community could become a major with Windows Live.

I got into the beta of this game through fileplanet. Its still under NDA so I won't express my feelings here but once that NDA is lifted, expect a monster post.


They send these guys to your house to blow your whole family up if you break NDA.
