Asus Eee PC: Quest abandoned and retaken

You might have read my earlier entry about the Eee I was to purchase. Well, I abandoned the quest for that model, and retook the quest for a new, and better version: The Eee PC 900. This model has a bigger screen and four times the diskspace on the flash drive. And the best parts: It costs the exact same and it's black!

I queried Komplett.no about when it was to be delivered, and their response was "During July or August". Updates will come when I know more.

"Bigger screen". Now there's good news. The one fault with the original was having to scroll sideways about a quarter of an inch to see the whole of a page.

The bad news is that I may just be forced to buy one.

I hope it's not the one you were after...

Just be sure it's the Eee PC 900 (or even better: Eee PC 901) you get.

That didn't take long... What was wrong with the 900 to make them whip out an upgrade so fast?

The 901 is more expensive and more powerful than the 900.

Information about the 901: http://eeepc.asus.com/global/901.htm

Mainly we can say that the 901 has:
- Longer battery life
- More RAM
- More powerful CPU
- Bluetooth

So the 901 is a *better* computer, although it will probably cost more.

Hmmm. MS must have just about given them the Windows OS for them to do it at this price (Although I notice on the 901 that Linux users get more storage space...).

It kinda depends upon the price now. I can live without Bluetooth, but if the 901 isn't too much more expensive I might stretch to it anyway.

Ooh. I'm getting all excited about spending money.

That can be dangerous...

Please note that these computers do not come shipped with Windows*, they have Linux installed. As Linux is free to use, it doesn't cost anything to put it onto their small computers. If you have a Windows license, you are free to use it, of course.

*901 is available with either Windows or Linux.
