CAN I HAZ NEW DESIGN

,

Yes I can. It's spaced out, 1000px in width and, um, yeah, somewhat fresh. Let's hope Blizzard doesn't sue me for stealing 1200x200 pixels from them (background). :X The header was made my me some years ago. \o/

Thoughts about redesigning the blog

,

I originally said that this design was only for December, but since I do not have another one completed at this time, I fear that I'll have to wait until after January 5th to redesign it.

This brings me to several points about how the new design will be, and hopefully I'll get some reactions to this and thoughts before I, eventually, implement them.

- I do not want to have the sidebar floating to the right. It breaks the design in Internet Explorer (for a change...) and it looks generally bad in resolutions with less than 1024 pixels in width.

- White. That's the background colour of the blog's content. The text colour will be black.

- I aim for about 800-900 pixels in width. Perhaps even 1000 pixels, with about 200 pixels for the sidebar.

- The form of the site will be much like http://www.ipwn.se (I really like that general layout)

- The font size will probably be 1 to 2 pixels larger (up from 11px), while the font family probably will continue to be Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif.

- The header will perhaps be... spaced out? I am not certain, I haven't given it much thought. Hopefully it'll be no taller than 200 pixels.

- Transparency? I don't think so. Perhaps.

- Much more structured CSS! All elements first, identifiers (#) second and lastly all the classes, not like the mess I am currently having.

- Better tags? Sure, I'll come up with something.

Any other suggestions? :-)

Merry Christmas!

I wish everyone a merry Christmas!

New design!

,

Zomg it's christmas soon!

Alright, the design's up. There are some bugs. For instance, friends lists and lists in general. These are from the old design and I haven't been able to swat them ... yet. But, it's better than the default design I had the previous week. What do you think? :smile:

Feel free to post bugs here whenever you encounter them. :smile:

Temporarily a boring design.

Since I am out of time to be fiddling with the design, I am keeping it on hold for some time until I can fix all the bugs related to it. But it'll be back, and, hopefully, better than ever. Until then, here's a bunny with a pancake on its head:

Member of the week :O

, ,

When I woke up from our daily hour in the shade, I went over to my computer to check what had happened. As part of my routine I went to My Opera to check what had happened there, and little did I know what was happening... Litterally. I had earlier today messed around with the settings in Opera so that I had asked Opera not to update cached pages more frequent than every 5th hour, so I did not see anything when I went to either the front page and my own page.

One thing I did notice was that I hadn't, for some reason, updated my status text since last weekend when we were in Skien, so I changed it and voilá - news items and messages had arrived. One in particular I noticed was from aaas with the subject Member of the week. Thank you aaas and My Opera! I am speechless and honoured!

New bugfixes

Now my friends and the photos in the photo albums should not be streched anymore. Feel free to shout if you find something that doesn't look... normal. :smile:

Now supporting Internet Explorer... well, partly.

,

I fiddled around and figured that the margins probably were off since I was unable to get it straight in Internet Explorer, so by doing:

#top, #content {
  margin: 0 auto 0 auto;
}

I managed to get it straightened up in Internet Explorer too. But I cannot see the side boxes here. They are not malplaced, they are not overlapped, they are just... gone! Vanished! And I have not hidden them. So as Quinnuendo stated:

(...) But it [IE7] still keeps the bugs, sometimes in totally new contexts.

Alright!

I think I'm starting to close in on the blog's final desing. I've been testing and running through different browsers to see it's combability. The results are:
- Opera: Works flawless.
- Safari: Works flawless.
- Firefox: Works flawless.
- Internet Explorer: Hah, you really thought that something made by hacking CSS would work in Internet Explorer? The entire header is moved 15 pixels in a direction, thus making it look crap.

Anyways, feel free to poke me about bugs and things that are not what they should be. I will try to write something that works for IE, but don't get your hopes up. It's afterall Internet Explorer.

Design trouble

So, how can I get rid of the area to the right? I think I've read through the code dozens of times, and I still am unable to remove or enlarge the sidebar area to the right. :<

I've tried to do display: none; or width: 0; or similar things in the #sidewrap, #side, .sidebox areas:

#sidewrap, #side, .sidebox {
  width: 0;
  display: none;
}

The display: none; made the sideboxes disappear, but the area behind it remains. Quite annoying, really.

Any suggestions?
