design, life, school
Well, apparently I'm still awake. I've been doing maths since about 0000, and I've done some of the most time consuming tasks, as far as I know. I have about 2.2 of 4 tasks left, and I feel that it's going good. Since I'm going to Ørnes on Saturday (which my Grandmother doesn't know (ssh

), I have to complete this by the end of Friday. My plan is to get this done tomorrow so that I can enjoy the Friday with
Anniken.
I must say, though, that I didn't understand much of
Karnaugh maps when the lecturer went through them, and I surely don't understand much of them now. That is, when the lecturer taught us about them I understood, comprehended and actually followed him in his calculations. I even did the example he put up before he had started to work his way through it. But then I got this task, and it was nothing of the sort that he had gone through. So I suppose I'll have to toss in some more frustrations before I get this done. My calculations were tossing null no matter what, which sounds just too weird to be true.

Oh, and bai de vai, since Apricot was released I just
had to redesign the blog. It seems to be a bug for visitors that they cannot see the links in the #myo div, so I'll have to look into it tomorrow. I am too tired (and having too much Boolean algebra in my head to comprehend CSS atm). Please report any issues you might see with the design. I'll try to fix them as soon as possible (read: at work tomorrow, probably *dodges the boss*). Getting paid
and being able to work with my blog between work sessions doesn't sound so wrong? It's awesome.

star trek, life
Tonight we started watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine at 2000 hours, and now, 7 hours later, we are finally ready for bed. We've come to the point where it
really gets awesome, and I cannot wait to see more. During those 7 hours we watched 8 episodes, and we are soon done with the season, meaning that I have to go downtown and purchase the next season(s) at the beginning of the next week.

linux, life, school
Tomorrow (or per definition today, but I haven't gotten to bed yet) we have New Year's Eve, so today was the last ordinary day of 2008.
I joined
Stein-Ivar in fetching Trond at the airport in Bodø, and the trip back and forth went smoothly. When I got home we had some delicious dinner, and I fell asleep again (I had slept from 0300 to 0800, so I was quite tired after those hours in the car).
Tonight I figured I'd try to reinstall my MSI Wind with Ubuntu, and it has worked flawlessly. The only thing I am struggling with now is to get Flash to work nicely with Opera (10), but it seems to give me the finger. When I use Firefox, however, it works perfectly. I'll look more into it tomorrow.
Now there's a storm blowing outside. It reaches for the house and the house crackles as it says "Hell no, I'll stay here". Quite cozy.

The biggest surprise today was that I finally got one of my grades. In Discrete Mathematics. For the first time ever, I received an A! :-)
I'll probably post something (un)useful tomorrow. Good night!

life
The exam went amazingly well. I had high expectations, but I was scared of what might come due to the new exam form this year. It was just like old exams, just that we didn't get to use the book. Luckily I am quite used to using String.format and such (although they prefer that we write String s = "this string: " + val + " and that string: " + val2; instead of String s = String.format("this string: %s and that string: %s", val, val2); What looks nicest?
Anyhow, we're in Skien now, with not much happening, and I love it. The anti stress factor is very good and I feel totally relaxed. We'll stay here until Saturday, and on Sunday at 0900 our plane for
Ørnes.
I'm trying out Twitter now, and I think I like it. The concept is nice, small status updates that is (hopefully) easy to follow. If you want to check it out, I'm at

life, school, code
Tomorrow I have my final exam for this semester (and, for that matter, this year). It is in "Programming", which basically is to understand and code in Java. The earlier exams have been mostly about coding various tasks, but this year, of course, they've changed the form of the exam to something else.
In the previous years, they've given exams which allowed us to bring own notes and books regarding the subject, which was quite alright since there are no answers to a programming task, just various methods to do the same (simply put. It may be only one "good" option, but there are many possibilities). This year, however, they're disallowing us to bring books and notes, and instead we have to know it all by ourselves, which isn't any problem, since I know most of the stuff in this course.
What I am afraid of, though, is all the poorly written questions we may be asked. If the mid-term tests were of any relevance, I am feeling gravely for this. I did score 85% and 95% (all errors except one on the first test were just me not thinking straight and the last was poor Java adaptation into the Norwegian language), but I noticed that some of the questions didn't provide any correct answer. For instance, we had a question which was something like:
Which of the following Java code is not valid, and we got about 5 different choices to choose from. All the code was something like for(int i = 0; i < myString.length(); i++), but the problem was that all options were misspelled. Seriously, none of the code given were correct. The code we were given was for(int i = 0; i < myString.lenght(); i++), and even though it's a small error, imagine what they could screw up at something as large as an exam. Unfortunately I could not comment on this, so I pretended that length was spelled correctly and chose the most correct accordingly.
I have been home alone since Friday morning, when Anniken traveled to Skien. I'm going after her tomorrow, and I'm looking very much forward to it. :-)

school, life
Next week, or to be precise, next Tuesday, I have an exam in
Discrete Mathematics, and I am not quite certain how ready I am for it. I mean, I feel like I know the stuff, but I haven't really gotten to do many earlier exams to test myself yet, so my feeling might be totally wrong. I'll try to get started on doing the earlier exams tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be quite ready for the exam by the Tuesday.
I was supposed to read quite some today, but I woke up with a sore throat and I've been feeling quite tight in my nose. Ad notum: How the heck is this put in English? "My nose didn't feel quite good?", "My nose had some booze men inside it?" (Yeah, poor pun based upon the Norwegian word for "bogeymen" which is "busemann"), or ... what? I can't come up with anything that sounds remotely reasonable. In either way I've been feeling kind of groggy and resultingly there has been little reading for the exam. I tried to do a small session a couple of hours ago, but I had to capitulate as my head just said no.
Since it's mostly exam reading, apart from some hours of
working and
playing every now and then, what time I read and what time I sleep doesn't matter much. I try to keep the days somewhat normal, but it occurs that we'll go to bed at 0300 and sleeping to 1200 (which most likely will be the case tonight, for instance). We don't have much except the exam next week on our schedule, so why not?

On a side note, apart from my nightly scrabbling, the snow has finally arrived and lasted for more than two hours. We've had it somewhat white outside our window for the past couple of days! It's awesome. I love it when
Anniken plays the christmas songs and it snows humbly outside our window. It's been many years since I've been so hyped for christmas.

Hmm. How to end this post? Many ways comes to my mind. Perhaps in the middle of a sen
