Preparing to move

,

In exactly 7 days we are well on our way to move into the new apartment. Today we went to IKEA to purchase some furniture for the new apartment; a table to have the TV on and some drawers to have various clothes in. One of the drawers is tall enough to use it to change diapers and stuff (with a pillow or some underlaying layer of some kind that the baby rests upon, of course).

Earlier this week we purchased a couch as well. I am really looking forward to getting this instead of the way too small couch we have now. Does it not look comfortable?

We still need to purchase a table to have with the couch, but they were sold out of the one we wanted, so we'll probably look closer into it when we've moved in. We have a temporary table we can use, but I'd prefer to have a new and suiting table.

Lastly, I'm a bit annoyed with our ISP, and more so with our ISP's provider. You see, about 3 weeks ago I ordered an Internet connection to be made ready just after we moved in, on Monday August 3. First off, the sales guy, apparently a summer fill-in guy, managed to file the wrong address, even though I repeatedly told him the explicit address. I got this fixed, and later on I got a confirmation date for the set up of the connection on July 27. That's way too soon, and I contacted them about it again, and it was fixed and pushed back to August 4.

Wednesday I received a mail that it had been pushed back to August 14, with no reasons provided. Naturally I was like WTF and called them straight away. It seemed the bread crumb sized brain of the summer fill-in had forgot to add the number of our apartment to the form for the Internet cable guy (or whatever to call him) to arrive. Instead of just calling me and asking, "Hi, what apartment number was it?", they pushed it back 10 days.

I was told to call the service company and ask them to pop the date forward, but it was filled to the brims, but the girl at the phone, whom seemed to be quite annoyed by whomever did this to us, encouraged me to ask our ISP to do an express delivery. I asked a guy I know inside about this, and he checked with some other guy whom said that they might request a service request whatever that is. I'll check in on Monday to see what's going on, but if we cannot get the Internet connection during next week (Aug 3 to Aug 7), I'll try whatever I can to get them to speed things up. The problem is that an express delivery costs about 10,000 NOK. But if they screwed up, you can bet that I'll try to exploit them for what it's worth.

Acquiring a new apartment

Linkage

We won the bidding for this apartment yesterday after looking at it at 1800 hours and putting in another bid before 1900 hours. We went some back and forth, and in the end we outbid the competitor. \o/

We were expecting to take over the new apartment in the change between July and June, but apparently the current owner was outbid on another apartment she was looking at, and thus wants to live in this one until the 15th of August. Since Anniken's due date is the 26th of August, we stated that we were not comfortable with that, and the estate agent is now looking into how early the owner is willing to let the apartment go. What is the point of putting your apartment up for sale if you're not going to move out of it the next three months? It's just silly!

So, I hope she will find a new apartment ASAP so that we can take over hers. I would rather not want Anniken to get in labor when we're moving.

Edit: She agreed on 1st of August instead of 15th of August. It gives us a bit more time to adapt before the baby arrives.

Looking for a new apartment.

Today we went to Skien to talk with the bank regarding a loan in a possible new apartment investment. After talking and running different scenario analyses with the bank for about one hour, the bank agreed to give us a loan. That means that we will be looking intensely for a new apartment the coming days, weeks and possibly months. 38 square meters just don't cut it when we are expanding to become 3 this autumn.

We have been looking at some apartments already, at least on the Internet. Hopefully, we will be able to find someone to have a look at for real too, and, possibly, purchase later on. It's very exciting and I am looking forward to getting towards and seeing the outcome.

How our desks and PCs looks now.

Anniken took an image yesterday about how the desks and PCs look now, and I thought I'd upload it here.

Desks are up!

Starting to look good, does it not?

The Desks of Doom

Today we purchased new desks, but little should we know that these would turn to the Desks of Doom.

It all started this morning when we were going to IKEA at Slependen to look for the Mikael, the name IKEA gave the desk series. Anniken had left for work, and I was gazing through the rooms to find this. When I finally found these, I noted the location of the desk itself, and with it's build-on I had to ask those working there. I found a nice guy and asked him, but of course they were sold out, and I had to go to the other IKEA store on the other side of the city.

I drove there, and found the desk. It seemed fair enough, and I drove home. When I got home and had compiled together the first desk, I figured that we'd never fit both desks in the way we planned, so I halted the building until Anniken arrived at home. We then built the second desk to see how they were looking, and after measurements upon measurements we figured that we would never be able to sit next to eachothers. The tables were 1.40 meters in length each, and the wall we wanted to place them by was 2.90 meters long. It'd work wonders if it hadn't been for a 0.15 meter wide oven that was totally misplaced. It was 1.35 meters in length and we couldn't fit it in either way possible.

After spending half an hour trying to fit the tables, we called my aunt's and asked them if they had a good saw. We then went and sawed 25% off one of the tables' feet, so we could fit it over the misplaced oven. Luckily, it worked fine, and now we've gotten rid of the curse that haunted the Desks of Doom. May we be able to keep the curse lifted in all the unforseen future.

Our new appartment

We've gotten most of our stash (about 98%) moved to the new appartment, but not entirely unpacked, as you may see in the picture above. Today we're going to IKEA to purchase a couple of workdesks, and they are going to be placed somewhere in the mess above. p:
