One thing that easily consumes me is the intriguingness of mysteries. Be it good old
Hercule Poirot or the mysteries of
Blizzard Entertainment. They have released a splash image with some secrets embedded into it. The splash screen has been updated every day since its initial release two days ago.

Now the different theories begin to evolve. If you look at the image, you will see that it contains some small symbols. These symbols have revealed themselves to be symbols from different Blizzard games: The first rune, discovered on the first image, is the uppermost rune on the Rune Blade of the Lich King, Arthas, from World of Warcraft; the second rune, new to the middle image, is the Hel rune from Diablo II; the third icon, from the furthermost right image, is the Protoss icon from StarCraft 2. That means we have acquired one symbol from each major Blizzard brand.

If we dissect the source code of the splash screen, we will see that there are some clues. In the CSS file, located in a folder named "232309", we have some out-commented lines, which all points to images. What's quite interesting, is that these are supposedly classes, with different names: "thundra", "caverns" and "icy". These can all be connected to act V from Diablo II. The diffent classes point respectively towards images 04.jpg, 15.jpg and 23.jpg. If we glue them together, we will find the image to the right. But what is that? A gigantic, purple walrus?
One more interesting thing, is that when we translate the name of the folder and files into characters - that is, taking the character at the position of the two-digit number in the file or folder - we get some useful letters. The folder "232309" becomes WWI, which is the
World Wide Invitational Blizzard is hosting this weekend. The other characters are 04 = D, 15 = O and 23 = W. DOW. Either we will get a word starting with DOW, or we will have to put the letters in the correct order when we have gotten all.

Notice how this image aligns to a perfect star. Draw some lines between the edged, and we have ourselves a pentagram, given that the two remaining symbols, one for Thursday and one for Friday, will be at the guesstimated spots. If we get that pentagram, I am quite confident that it will be Diablo 3, which is going to be announced. Blizzard has currently a secret project called
Hydra, a socalled "Next-gen MMO", and I have a hope that this will be
World of Diablo or something like that.
Tomorrow will probably fling all speculations in a totally different direction. Perhaps I am correct by guessing that they will reveal something from the Diablo universe, or perhaps I am totally mistaken. I am looking forward to it. No doubt, their
World Wide Invitational will reveal something extraordinary. Something huge. Something... Blizzard.
