A review of the book: I Slept With Joey Ramone-A Family Memoir
Thursday, February 25, 2010 10:17:27 PM
Brings memoirs of Mitchel and Jeffry Hyman's childhood, their growing up, early devotion to music both listening and playing. This early "accumulation" of everyday attach, planted seeds in both of them, and this will give result, that both become great musicians. And yet, not later in life, but already in their teenage years. Joey started playing drums, Mickey a guitar.
In the book it is thoroughly described Joey's life and how The Ramones was found and more or less it covers the whole career of the band (22 years), as well as the beginning of Joey's brilliant solo career. For example, you will find here a complete transformation of a shy drummer player Jeff, to one of the best singers (the best in my opinion) in the world, who else but Joey Ramone!
Connected with what was told above, I like very much this written in the book:
And some people have less star appeal than others, but sometimes they shine far brighter than those with more.
I'm not bias, not at all! But this is so very true!
You don't go around speaking: "Hey, look at me, I'm a big star...", but you become one, with nothing else, but your constant work and fight with all the things that tend to stand on the way!
Though, some were famous also. Their head made headlines once.

As Joey used to say about the Ramones:
We've always been our own breed of band. We concocted a unique sound and style all our own a trademark
True. They didn't change their style, both in music and look, not a bit, during their career. That's one, among many other things that makes them great.
Going toward the end of the book and knowing what will end be like, is not easy. Joey struggled a lot, but remained a hero until the end.
This book is a must for every Joey Ramone and The Ramones fan!
Oncemore, thanks Mickey and Legs for writing and bringing this book to life.
By the way, thanks Mickey for one more great thing: for carrying on your brother's works!
Ps: The review maybe has a lot of disadvantages, but these are moments from the book that I was affected by, the most.
