Some moments from life

Becar paprikas omlette

It's a season of delicious fresh vegetables and fruits here. smile This is one of my favorite meals, becar paprikas. And I prefer to eat it with cheese only or with eggs for breakfast. smile

You will be needed:

- 3 green onions (divide white and green part)
- small green pepper
- half of zucchini
- small tomato
- two eggs
- olive oil, salt

-cheese
-basil

Procedure:

Chop white parts of green onions and cook with olive oil. Add green pepper cut in small pieces and roughly grated zucchini. Cook about 20 minutes, until soft. Put green parts of onions and tomato cut in pieces. Cook about five more minutes. Then, add bitten eggs and cook all together until eggs are done.

Next, mash cheese, add basil and olive oil and mix together. When it is done, serve this over the top of becar paprikas omlette like this:

Ok, know it takes a while to prepare, but it is worth every minute! Why? Because it will keep you full until late in the afternoon. up

* If you like your to be al dante, like I do, it can save time to prepare veggies. wink

no I'm definitely not ready for autumn yet. It isn't even officially summer!

Mitthaodp Friday, June 11, 2010 4:59:37 AM

I have no time to go to market today so I have to wait until tomorrow to taste awww
ah, since I'm not used to eating cheese I wonder if it is much different when I put cheese out of ingredients? bigsmile

Darkogdare Friday, June 11, 2010 8:07:08 AM

Cheese is crucial because the taste is different without it chef

AnchyAnitaMargita Friday, June 11, 2010 9:26:00 AM

awww So sorry, Darko...

You are welcome, Angeliki. love

AnchyAnitaMargita Friday, June 11, 2010 9:29:37 AM

Mit, you can try without cheese, up but as Darko said, taste is different without it. smile

Cheese isn't used in our ordinary cuisine.

AnchyAnitaMargita Friday, June 11, 2010 11:52:46 AM

Hi Nhu! smile You are welcome and thank you! heart

Mit, up Milk and milk products are not used in Vietnamese ordinary cuisine?

Mitthaodp Friday, June 11, 2010 2:54:58 PM

No, they aren't. Milk is not used in our traditional meals, neither are milk products. People just have started to drink milk in daily life lately.

AnchyAnitaMargita Friday, June 11, 2010 5:14:15 PM

I see.

Deb Plattdebplatt Friday, June 11, 2010 5:28:10 PM

It turns out that those of us who can digest milk as adults are mutants. bigeyes Really. There's a nice article on the research here. Much of the earth's population has the original gene which prevent them from digesting milk:
[Lactose intolerance] affects about 5 per cent of Northern Europeans and close to 100 per cent of Southeast Asians
So it makes sense that the Vietmanese would not use cheese in their traditional recipes. When my husband was traveling in Japan, it seems that pizza has become very popular over there, but unlike the way it is served here, they don't put any cheese on it. However it is now possible to add the enzyme with digests milk to the dairy products, so even lactose intolerant people can digest it, which is way dairy products are probably making an appearance in Vietnam now.

And there's another interesting account of the impact of the mutation in ancient times on agriculture and civilization here. Scientists think the mutation arose in a proto-Indo-European population in northwestern Europe.
