Dose your government recognize Tibet as an independent nation? Are there any country in the world recognizing Tibet as an independent nation? Why no mainstream media ask such basic, fundamental, legitimate questions? The fact is that no country, zero, none, in the world recognize Tibet as a nation. Why?
BRIEF SUMMARY:
Tibet is located in southwest China. The ancestors of the Tibetan race was linked with the Hans in the Central Plains long before the Christian era. Later on, over a long period of time, the numerous tribes scattered on the Tibet Plateau became unified to form the present Tibetan race. By China's Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Tibetans and Hans had, through marriage between royal families and meetings leading to alliances, cemented political and kinship ties of unity and political friendship and formed close economic and cultural relations, laying a solid foundation for the ultimate founding of a unified nation. In Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the statue of the Tang Princess Wen Cheng, who married the Tubo tsampo, king of Tibet, in 641, is still enshrined and worshiped in the Potala Palace. The Tang-Tubo Alliance Monument marking the meeting for this purpose between Tang and Tubo erected in 823 still stands in the square in front of the Jokhang Monastery (大昭寺). The monument inscription reads in part, "The two sovereigns, uncle and nephew, having come to agreement that their territories be united as one, have signed this alliance of great peace to last for eternity! May God and humanity bear witness thereto so that it may be praised from generation to generation."
In the mid-13th century, Tibet was officially incorporated into the territory of China's Yuan Dynasty. Since then, although China experienced several dynastic changes, Tibet has remained under the jurisdiction of the central government of China.
This ancient Chinese painting from Tang Dynasty showed the scene of envoys sent by Tibetan King asking Tang Emperor to grant a marriage to Chinese Princess Wenchen.
Here is a general review of the political history of Tibet since it was incorporated into China, a clip I found on youtube, it's hard to summarize everything in a few minutes and my view differs at some points from this clip, for example, when talking about foreign powers it should include USA, but this clip is the closeast thing that I can find from a non-Chinese source.
A FEW KEY POINTS:
Now let's focus on a few important points that mainstream media failed to inform us or even mislead us. People tend to believe Tibet used to be Shangri La, a heavenly place in the world, is this true? Here is a video clip from National Geography, recording a German expedition in 1930s to Tibet, you can see how Tibet was like at that time:
It said Tibet was equivalent to medieval Europe at the time. In fact, Tibet was in a serfdom system ruled by theocracy, extremely backward. However, no mainstream media today show people such basic historical facts. While some people shout "Free Tibet", do they know the truth is that Tibet became free from slavery only since 1959 after Chinese central government abolished the serfdom system?
