Where is this? I would like to travel over Denmark one day, especially to that part on the north where Atlantic and Northern sea meets, Skagen I think cool

My brother sent me some photographs and videos from Zemun today, they are in the middle of snowstorm (about 40cm of snow so far), Danube is completely frozen, Sava too, and all that with -10C as a highest temperature for two weeks now. Comparing to that, your winter looks almost like a spring p

Sansanshan Saturday, February 11, 2012 4:37:25 PM

I kind of miss having a proper winter. sad (kind of)

Martin K™Aqualion Saturday, February 11, 2012 4:50:43 PM

@Darks

Since Denmark is an archipelago and because of the currents of the North Sea, we always have fairly warm weather, also in Winter time. However, wind's been in North East lately, meaning Siberian winds. Lowest temperature was last thursday with -24C. Fortunately, we had no wind that night or else, because of chill factor it would have been almost -30C.

@San

I don't mind snow and ice for a couple of days, but almost two months of it - like we had last year - that is too much, I think. Even for a Winter's Child like me - born on the 26th day of 1969.

Beautiful. I'm envious. up

Martin K™Aqualion Saturday, February 11, 2012 6:57:01 PM

Well, it did the trick. As from this afternoon I am officially in sick with a massive flu. It's been a few years since I had a flu of this character. I first put on an effective wool base layer Thursday morning. I guess it was too late.

Edward Piercyedwardpiercy Saturday, February 11, 2012 7:00:26 PM

Okay I'm probably not envious about that flu thing part of it. p

Get well!

KittyliciousZaphira Sunday, February 12, 2012 9:14:37 AM

Winter looks so much prettier in the countryside up
Bummer about the cold - but as a Viking I know you'll get better very soon. p

My own fault, really. Like most Danes I have long wool underwear, and my wife has supplied me with a variety of knitwear: hats and scarfs of all colours and designs. This time I just put them on too late. Due to difficulties with my father in-law's health we have spent quite some time at his farm trying to keep it alive while he's in bed. This means outdoor work and thus exposure to the cold.

But you're right, I'm up and about in a day or two.

Gavin Tripp-Sheedygarlingmatthews Sunday, February 12, 2012 7:23:32 PM

Feel better, Martin. It's easy to not bother with the winter gear. I'm still wearing my denim jacket out. Stupid, stupid.

i would never survive your winters. p too used to the warm.
But it's still very beautifull and would like to experience it just once for a few minutes. p

Martin K™Aqualion Wednesday, February 15, 2012 12:22:58 PM

*Note to self: Subject 'Wolfman' seems to be volnurable to subzero temperatures. Inform HQ asap, secure line.*

You are always welcome. Might welcome you with a pint of warm Mjød.

Ps: Went to doctor today, and he told me to stay home couple days. Apparantly some kind of virus. Haven't been this sick for years.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, February 19, 2012 7:04:54 AM

lol my weakness has been revealed... left time to work on that warm suit we keep talkin about when we go camping...whistle
you drink your beer warm? scared maybe cause we've never had cold like your cold we ,even on the coldest winters, still want the COLDEST beer because it "heats" us up. doh

And poor you... Maybe it's the Mjød. p

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, February 19, 2012 9:08:00 AM

Mjød is not beer. It's made from fermented honey. Sweet and sticky stuff. Good for keeping the bones warm.

A cold beer is always nice. Fortunately, it is possible to purchase fairly good de-alcoholized beers. I've been on the waggon for quite some time, but not because I don't like beer. Some of the 'free' beers are really nice. You can even get alcohol free wheat beer now - always been my favorite. I do prefer my beer cold, though.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, February 19, 2012 6:00:52 PM

igot "viking beer" on my second search so I just thought that must be it. doh stop tempting me with alcoholic beverages... p
I've tried the alcohol free stuff and I can say it's not all bad except here it costs more... doh
So to be drunk or broke? THAT is the question... p

Same thing here. I reckon they are considered luxury beers...

Just remembered, that there actually is an English word for Mjød: Mead. Look it up. It's fairly easy to produce, actually, and only illegal if you get busted.

Bad WolfCois Monday, February 20, 2012 4:55:21 AM

mead i know! doh if s did a thorough search i'd've gotten it. left
Over here they make a traditional house beer. Whether it's legal is beyond me as we sold the ingredients in the shop and still do.
Might be only illegal if you sell it.. sherlock
I'll tell you this though... Tastes like crap and made me throw up just for trying it.. yuck

Mad Scientistqlue Tuesday, February 21, 2012 5:56:03 AM

The Zulus have their own version, but only the old folk still drink these days. p .
Alcohol free beer should be cheaper as it doesn't get the extra 'sin tax' that normal beer gets. sherlock .
I've never actually seen it but then, I'm not fond of hops so I haven't looked. left .

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, February 21, 2012 6:20:15 PM

well in these parts you get the alcohol free Red Square but it costs more than the normal one.
Also you get some other alcohol free beer but they're imported and still expensive.
Ever tried buying a six pack Corona here? knockout too rich for my blood...

Bad WolfCois Tuesday, February 21, 2012 6:22:03 PM

oh and Aadil i'm talking of that stuff you get at shebeens. Err... "skale."

Martin K™Aqualion Tuesday, February 21, 2012 9:51:49 PM

Should have known better than to metion beer in the company of South Africans... Good thing I didn't mention sausages... Erm... Wait!

Mad Scientistqlue Wednesday, February 22, 2012 5:20:30 PM

We don't do sausages here, that's the British. We've got Pap 'n Wors. chef .

Martin K™Aqualion Wednesday, February 22, 2012 7:04:24 PM

Pap 'n Wors sounds nice.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, February 26, 2012 7:06:50 AM

with gravy... chef

Bad WolfCois Sunday, February 26, 2012 7:07:26 AM

and a beer... lol

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, February 26, 2012 7:44:10 AM

Sounds a bit like one of my favorite dishes from the region where I was born with mashed potatoes and chunks of pork and carrots with graded cheese and onions.

Bad WolfCois Sunday, February 26, 2012 2:01:21 PM

now that sounds pretty good! chef
I'd make that if that's all the ingredients and it doesn't require some special way to mix everything together...

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, February 26, 2012 3:12:58 PM

First you need a pot with a tight lid that can go into the oven. Then you cook the meat with onions and garlic and herbs of your choice and perhaps some chopped tomatoe to make it wet. Then you cook the potatoes and carrots. You mash up the potatoes and mix the carrots with the meat sauce. At last you put potatoe mash and meat in the pot in layers, finish with some grated cheese on the top and put the lot in the oven for about half an hour. More or less like the traditional British "Shepard's Pie". Yummy...

Bad WolfCois Sunday, February 26, 2012 4:00:15 PM

sounds awesome. I'll try it out and let you know how it turns out. up you can never go wrong with cheese in your food... p

That depends on the cheese! scared .

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, February 26, 2012 9:36:40 PM

Those pieces of cheese that are left, the ones you don't know what to do about because they get too thin to slice, but it's still good cheese... I put them all in a bag, and then I use them on pizza. It's really good with different flavours of cheese on your pizza. I'd even throw in a piece of blue cheese if there's some left. My wife is crazy about blue cheese.

Bad WolfCois Monday, February 27, 2012 11:34:39 AM

This device is probably the most brilliant kitchen device ever invented. There are no limits as to what you can put between two slices of toast, all sorts of left overs, bits and pieces of stuff you can't cook into anything edible, things in the bottom of tubes, glasses and tins, veggies that are too ugly or too old to serve ordinary - just put it in a sandwich toast with plenty of cheese and people will eat it. Brilliant!

Bad WolfCois Sunday, March 4, 2012 9:32:36 AM

hell yeah brother! up i'm sold and i'll take two! p
I've still got the one me mum used so it's a lot older than me and still functioning.
You know when people say they never clean skillets cause it "preserves" flavour?
I don't think that snackwicher has ever been cleanedfor over 30 years scared

Mad Scientistqlue Monday, March 5, 2012 5:58:09 AM

a real archeological treasure! scaredlol .
I have a four sandwich toaster, similar to the one in that photo, that's never been used. cry .
Time to organise a brunch party! chef .

Bad WolfCois Monday, March 12, 2012 7:04:11 PM

i need one that makes four idea
