Wolveress

, , ,

Both my wife and me were born in the sixties, so we are slowly approaching middle-age, and the signs of... erm... maturity are beginning to show. This is not alltogether bad.

A couple of years ago my wife decided to quit dying her hair. She says she simply can't be bothered. I like that. I also think the grey streaks look good on her.

Most of you guys know me quite well by now, and you also know that I like teasing - jokingly, out of interest and love, not the bullying sort of teasing. I can't help it. I am the youngest of three siblings, and it is little brother's duty to be a nuisance.

So, I sometimes call my wife Wolveress - primarily when her hair is all over the place, and she gets that particular Wolverine hair style. It started when I found out that she has a fancy for Hugh Jackman.

Now, take a look at this picture of my better half...

See what I mean?

PS: She actually has the temper to back up the hair style. I would not mess with her. And she don't need adamantium claws either.

Disclaimer:
Sorry about the poor quality of the image of my wife. It doesn't do her any justice at all. It's a snapshot captured with a smartphone, in bright sunshine, and I couldn't even see what I was doing. Anybody with a smartphone knows what I'm talking about.

So, here's a picture that shows both the immediate and the more subtle levels of my sweetheart's beauty. This is what she looks like IRL/3D/HD:

So, Summer Is Here...Word...

You don't have to be afraid. My wife is very pleasant company. And, for the record, that picture up there does not do her justice, for which I most cincerely apologize. It was a snapshot in the sun, nothing more. It does not show you her emerald eyes or her ivory skin; hair, once raven black, now growing streaks of wisdom grey. I love her very much.

scott cummingI_ArtMan Wednesday, May 30, 2012 8:27:54 PM

she must have a great sense of humor and that is very unwolverine-like, she has a very sweet face. emerald eyes... cool. my mother had green eyes. they are actually very rare as far as i can tell. happy

Darkogdare Thursday, May 31, 2012 1:57:40 AM

For last 3 or 4 years my hair and beard started to gray out, I suppose it will be more obvious in a few more years from now. Sometimes I joke that I will need to dye my hair in pitch black, just to see how unnatural it would look like p

Martin K™Aqualion Thursday, May 31, 2012 10:19:54 AM

Being a Celtic Nord, my beard is red and my hair is platinum blonde. Since I was in my late thirties grey areas have been developing in my beard. Everybody tells me, it looks good. I don't really care. I only see it in the mirror while shaving. Sometimes I consider letting my face grow and get a real long Gandalf beard, just to se how it would look. I do have the wisdom and experience to back that sort of beard up, I should think. I'm not a conjurer of cheap tricks. wink I could let my hair grow as well - it does actually grow. Grey wouldn't show in my hair. That's the benefit of platinum blonde.

BTW: I just put up an additional picture to the post. Of my wife. For everybody to know how she really looks.

My wife's family (on her father's side) comes from Norway, and they are all tall, dark haired and fair skinned with the sort of eyes that seem to be blue, green and brown without having one fixed colour, and they are all heavy set, as in physically powerful. My father-in-law was impressive in his general pose, well over 110 kg, used to be an oldschool blacksmith, and probably the physically strongest man I have ever met. Stout, is the word that comes to my mind when thinking about her family.

My own family (father's side) has been living in Denmark/Jutland since nobody knows how long. The recorded history of the lineage disappeares somewhere in the 13th century. My late aunt was dedicated to genealogical research and according to her 'maps' our genus is a mix between German immigrants (around 1400-something) and Huguenot refugees from French. My mother's family were also travelers who came from Scotland somewhere in the 15th century to seek fortune in Jutland.

This is a very typical family lineage for people of Denmark. North and South seems to meet here.

Yes ... and it is a very strategically placed piece of land, so when they got there, there was plenty of opportunity to make a living.

Edward Piercyedwardpiercy Saturday, June 2, 2012 7:29:43 PM

Well I'm almost as far away as Darko, so I also am not afraid. Besides, with the lack of facial hair she just looks like a girl. bigsmile

Martin K™Aqualion Saturday, June 2, 2012 8:17:01 PM

Yeah, Ed, a Wolveress. I don't even know if that is a proper word. Sounds cool, though.

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, June 3, 2012 6:39:47 AM

Tell her she's a sod for betraying Hope. up

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, June 3, 2012 8:35:57 AM

I'm not realy into X-Men at all, Mik. Never was. I don't know of there's a real character called Wolveress, and I am not familiar with the doings of Wolverine - apart from the film-versions, and I haven't even seen the last one yet. So, it is not out of 'fan-love' that I call her Wolveress. In other words, I have no idea what you are talking about.rolleyes

Dark FurieFurie Sunday, June 3, 2012 9:31:51 AM

No need for you to know. She knows what she did. mad

Martin K™Aqualion Sunday, June 3, 2012 4:46:52 PM

Oh, it's like that..

Alright then, I'll best stay out of trouble and discretely let a subtle comment fall at a proper moment...

Pineas2 Monday, June 4, 2012 8:57:00 AM

Second pic is better. smile

Spaggyj Monday, June 4, 2012 12:34:50 PM

Ha, I see the resemblance lol and yes, second pic is much better. Fuckin camera phone cameras, horrid things.

It's more the screen that's bothering. You can't see a bloody thing in sunlight on my set (Nexus S). Not even when in the car. I have to do everything covering under a coat. It's annoying because we often use the phone as GPS when we're somewhere unknown and have forgotten the proper GPS.

Otherwise the camera is fairly good. For snapshots.

Spaggyj Tuesday, June 5, 2012 9:28:48 AM

Oh. Well, mine's shit.

Martin K™Aqualion Tuesday, June 5, 2012 9:47:22 AM

Before I submitted to modern life and got myself this smartphone I had Sony Ericsson units for several years. Really good cameras in those. Carl Zeiss lenses and all. Many of the pics on this blog, incl. albums, were taken with my old phones. The audio system of the SEs are/were really good too. So, it takes quite a lot to impress me. Gotten to like this Nexus though. Contemplating as of lately to upgrade to Galaxy. The SIII looks like a killer to me.

KittyliciousZaphira Sunday, June 10, 2012 2:07:31 PM

I think she looks awesome! And having a temper - well... to me, that's a virtue! wink

studio41 Tuesday, June 19, 2012 7:11:43 AM

interesting post, Martin. it is always obvious how you love your wife. cool hair and nice lower pic - did you mention her dimple?

Martin K™Aqualion Tuesday, June 19, 2012 9:41:21 AM

@Studio

That would be dimples, pluralis, since she got them on both cheeks. And yes, I love her very much. She brought so much joy and happiness into my life. Enough for me to actually get on my knees. Something I never thought would happen - actually getting married. Burned fingers and heart several times before. This time, however, fate seems to be in our favour. I am grateful about that.
