Samba School This happens in a Plaza in the main Boulevard call 18 of July or 18 De Julio in there often you can get a group of dancers or Samberos doing something for the crowd to let every one know that the Carnaval is coming soon.
Candombe This happen when I was going to a birthday party of a friend and I was walking to her house and heard the drums as I got off the bus and it was coming from the street I was heading into and just got there in time this happens often people will just get together and take their Drums out and start to play and the women will join in and dance moving the hips very gracefully which in Anglo Cultures is not the case as well as Germanic
Montevideo New Years Eve 2007 I was taking by 2 friends to the old Spanish Fortress which it looks out to all of Montevideo city and from there you can see the fire works that everybody will light up to celebrate New Years Eve the photo won't do justice but you will get the idea.
This was the opening of the the street of the Llamadas in South Suburb of Montevideo it is a tradition which started with the Africans who were brought to Uruguay in the Colonials days and has been like it since then .It develope in the next 100 years or so of Llamadas (the Calling of the Drums).
This one of the best party's around here , this one was for the crew who help to put together the party in many wasy big and small .
The organisers made it as a gift for the people who come and help to put it together and I took some photos of the event .

This night was great week and night , the film producers of the Latin film Festival were there at the Melt .
One of the film producers Hector Cruz Sandoval did a film on the famous photographer Alberto Diaz Korda who took the photo of Che Guevara the one that everybody has in the red t-shirt or the poster in the university student room the film was call Kodavison A Cuban Revelation.
As well there was Jorge Cormona another Film producer from Peru , it was a week of magic and story telling and of beat latin movies a more down to earth with out the Hollywood glamour.
The films were worth looking at , and then after the film show everybody end up at the Melt Club not to big not to small just the right sides where people can go and enjoy themselfs to nice tunes and dance till 3 am to latin beats .
See you there
He is one of the up coming musicians , he was an MC in the past and a great individual I did a interview with him , which gave me a great insight about him and his music a real human and the most amazing person very down to earth and with a very positive message to all in his music in his first CD he sing in English and Spanish making it a very interesting album.
I asked him about the song basking and he told me that he done it live in a bus stop! and you get that in the album for real recorded at a bus stop! .
And the song you are beautiful was written for his niece who wasn't feeling to good about her self at the time so he compose the song and it is a very beautiful song , worth looking at his music for a positive message for a world in need.
This is sort of rhythms from Africa with the very easy and long songs and instrumentals the type of music you need to dance all night with your friends . In here you got some Soukou Stars and having fun with their music , Sina Makossai is one of those Stars from Africa , playing in here and having a great time , this musicians are great and the way they play the guitar is very soft , Africans have a different way in playing their guitar they not as agresive as some of the counterparts in the west.

Rabih Abou-Kahlil born in Lebanon a great oud player but progressive in his music getting together with western musicians has play with the likes of , Charlie Mariano,Kenny Wheeler,Milton Cordona,Steve Swallow and many more . He is great on the classical Arabic oud music just as in the "if I may call it this" Arabic Jazz or fusion.
He is something to see in concert, where when he plays the quite compositions he can bring the night of the desert in your mind just as the dawn and the real dry hot days , not much voice in his music from what I heard in most cd's there is lots of instrumental sounds even then he makes you see the desert and the ancient culture where is come from .
