goodbye for now, opera

uzzling
I'll be using flickr for my photo's and blogger for my blogging.
On blogger you can do quite a few things to customize and add sidebar stash to your likings that you cannot do here.
Ok the community stuff I'll probably miss. However, then again flickr is quite a community. And for sharing photos that suits me better.
But I may check in here now and then, though. Won't delete myself here yet anyway.
Thanks to all of you who who visited my page etc. and to opera for providing this service.

Roses are red

Trying out indoor lighting stuff at home, here with a black backdrop.

all good things come to an end

,

Yesterday i was walking around in the town to try myself at taking pictures. Seems it takes a hell of a lot of shooting to get to a stabilized good level. In between, though, I get to take some quite ok pics too. I like this one well, with decay in nice symmetry. all good things...

out hunting

hoarfrost IVIt was saturday, around zero degrees, and the sun was shining. This autumn hasn-t been too sunny, so I decided to use the chance to try and gain some experience with the new hobby of mine (which is really growing on me) - photography (got myself into a nice minus on the credit card by getting myself a brand new Canon EOS 400d). The weather was really nice, and it didn't get cold before the sun set and the moon arose - after some last shots that was when I left the scene too.
It's a good feeling to get some nice captures - when you start to look there's so much beauty around...
I've left some of those shots on my flickr page. You're very welcome to have a look and leave a comment if you like what you see.

Use HTML DOCTYPE!

, ,

Started reading a book on CSS named CSS Mastery by Andy Bugg. He says this on the DOCTYPE tag that would start a html document (p.10):

[...] Despite writing valid CSS, if you choose the wrong DOCTYPE, your pages will be rendered in quirks and behave in a buggy and unpredictable way. As such, it is important to include a fully formed DOCTYPE declaration on every page of your site and choose a strict DTD when using HTML.[...]

Been a while since I read about CSS, so I see, the world has moved on, and it's high time to do some refreshing ...

flickr-ing

I'm putting stuff to flickr these days alias Xody. If you're interested, you're welcome to take a look.
Being more and more picture posting and less blogging on my side, and t seems that flickr is a more appropriate place/community for that.
So far I can say that it tends to be somewhat more activity and feedback on pictures there, and uploading and organizing is A LOT easier + got some nice features like geotagging and statistics. Looks nice.
We'll see, I'm checking it out anyway.

A touch of evil - a music note

,

You can't argue about musical taste. Taste changes with time and moods. One of my personal favorites these days is this song by Judas Priest. Funny, I liked that band well long time ago and then didn't listen to it for a long time. Now it's like rediscovering something that you really like and it gives a good feeling of something familiar and well known, yet giving fresh and powerful emotions.
Or take the Beyond The Realms Of Death... Funny thing with music, it feels like an urge to recommend your likings and findings, as with good food - you will want your friends to experience that same good feeling - only with music it's far more seldom that the person you recommend it to will take it to his heart... this is also a real goodie:

anyway, music is a good word, just taste the sound of it, like muse-ic - makes sense, huh?

TV shows online with Joost

,

"What's Joost? It's video – more than 15,000 shows, with more added daily. It's online – all you need is a broadband internet connection. And it's free."

Why is my.opera so goddamn slow!?!?!?!

Is it only me, or has the My.Opera site become extremely slow? on surfing around here, it often takes plenty of tens of seconds to just load a single page!!! and not only the first page, also the second or third and so on... - that really sucks! :furious: if this keeps up, it'll be the end for this community in not too long I'm afraid! rip - hopefully I'm wrong... :bomb:

shooting cool pics with digital macro

,

Found a function I didn't know of or hadn't tried (on my Canon IXUS 850 IS), it's the DIGITAL MACRO function. It doesn't allow flash, so it needs somewhat better light, but this is really cool. Lets me take close up shots with full resolution, so I can have a nice and clear closeup of this fly at full resolution.
Really cool or what? :raider:
... I really fan this - turning tiny details into huge scupltures or small textures into great landscapes etc.
