Phew Pack 2

Today we examine Phew's 1st full-length album (post-Aunt Sally) - the self-titled "Phew" from 1981 where we find Phew has moved from beginning level to prime time ready Phewness (its a word dammit). The brilliant "Phew" is thirty minutes of ice-cold machine funk and features a collaboration with members of CAN. The Japanese culture bible Studio Voice named "Phew" as the third best Japanese alternative album of all time.

You can check out a vid for the track "Closed" as well as a few other Phew vids down in the Dungeon of Leng.
Also we have 1987's "View" on which Phew continues to navigate the outre art rock waters with the skill of a master, moving back and forth from pop rock to experimental electronic weirdness and everywhere in between with precision and purpose.

And finally we take a look at "Our Likeness" from 1992. Re-teaming with CAN drum master Jaki Leibzeit, Phew is joined by a supergroup's worth of German underground luminaries - Crime And The City Solution's Thomas Stern, Christian Haas (of DAF and Liasons Dangereuses) and Alexander Hacke from P1/E.
Powerful and awe-inspiring strangeness awaits.
