H Minus 25: Sing Along With Drac

So here's another of my all time favorites (and you'll probably see a few more like these before I escape the blood-suckers

Sheldon Allman's Sing Along With Drac(1961)
If you don't know who Sheldon Allman is, you probably know his work...
He appeared in 12 movies including such notables as "Hud" with Paul Newman, "Nevada Smith" with Steve McQueen and "The Sons of Katie Elder" with John Wayne.
He was the singing voice for Mister Ed (writing the novelty tunes that Ed sang on a few episodes of the show - "Pretty Little Filly with the Pony Tail" and "Empty Feedbag Blues.")
He wrote the lyrics for several Jay Ward cartoon show themes including "Super Chicken" and "George of the Jungle."
He wrote TV themes for game shows such as "Split Second", "Your First Impression" and the 1970s versions of "Let's Make a Deal", "Masquerade Party" and "It Pays to be Ignorant".
And here he is giving his best Bela Lugosi impression on 12 great tracks of novelty glory:
1. These Ghoulish Things Behind Me Are You
2. A Coffin For Sale
3. Don't Maim Me
4. D.O.A. (The Day My Heart Stood Still)
5. Amongst My Souvenirs
6. They Can't Take That
7. Children's Day At The Morgue
8. That Old Old Old Feeling
9. Oh You Voo Doo Doo Doll
10. I Don't Stand A Chance With A Ghost
11. This Can't Be Blood
12. Fangs For The Memory
This cult favorite monster album led him to connect with "Monster Mash" singer Bobby "Boris" Pickett for a musical comedy play in 1967, "Dracula ... Sorry the Bridge Is Out, You'll Have to Spend the Night." Some considered it in league with "The Rocky Horror Show,". It ultimately was made into the 1995 direct-to-video "Monster Mash: The Movie."

Yeah, I have to agree - this is basically "Drac does monologuing lounge lizard." However, it is quite enjoyable and has some surprisingly dark, fun lyrics on a couple tracks. There are some interesting voice-impersonations of varying quality, too.
There is actually one - count 'em one - track with genuine singing, though it in fact isn't sung in the Drac-type voice. That song is "Children's Day At The Morgue" which is really my favorite track on this album. Allman sings the song in a voice disturbingly similar to his "Mr. Ed's singing voice," almost a Thurl Ravenscroft-like bass (baritone?). I suppose one could say there is some "singing" on Oh You Voo Doo Doo Doll as well. A fun offering. Thanks, Azaroth!

And I tried to explain to Mr Picky Tenzhi that he was doing an impression of cheesy lounge singers, but he wasn't buying any of it
oh and it's still Azathoth here - its just some nimrod already had the user name and didn't even do anything with his blog thus wasting it (an insult to Lovecraft if you ask me
So my opera account says AzaRoth on everything because I was forced to use an altered spelling and I combined Azathoth with Asteroth, one of my favorite demons (mostly just from how it was portrayed in the old Chaos! comics and not necessarily from actual demonology and biblical references, which while interesting enough, are not as cool as the Chaos!
