my.opera edition

Blog FYI

Sadly, I won't be updating this blog anymore. My Opera doesn't have an automatic import feature like Facebook does, and I no longer feel like copying and pasting each and every entry from my LiveJournal over here.

You can bookmark http://lj.bamatone.net if you wish, or you can subscribe to the RSS feed.

Posterous is definitely intriguing, but doesn't seem to support My Opera. down

when you are conifiguring autopost in posterous make sure to use

http://myopera.com/blogNameHere/ as the url. It seem to work for me.

Thanks for the info. I will check it out!

did you check it out in the end ?

CharlieBAMAToNE Monday, June 7, 2010 7:07:58 PM

I did indeed! I didn't check My Opera compatibility specifically, but I did test out Posterous in general. It's a pretty neat service and I would use it again to embed an mp3 to create streaming music. But while all the compatibleness is great, Posterous makes it hard to get post formatting right. I prefer to put in my own html / css tags, etc. and I find I don't have quite the level of control I need and that I can get from using Semagic for LiveJournal.

Another major thing was that after I made a post, I could edit it from Posterous, but it did not republish that post to LJ (and I would assume anywhere else). So if I wanted to go back and make a change, I would have to do it at each site.

I may look into it again, though. All this experimenting was done late one night many months ago, heh.

Yeah, afaik, once you autopost, you'd have to edit your endpoint for changes.

However, if you use something like Windows Live Writer to format posts, I think it gets right 99% times...

Looks like I get weird results when using custom html or css tags. So looks like Posterous is out.

But I did just discover dlvr.it (replacing twitterfeed with it), and talking with support now about getting my.opera.com added as a destination. Not holding my breath, though.
