Egad, forgot to make the schedule last week! I had a lot to do, what with the trip to Knoxville. Anyway, on to this weekend.

I'm really interested to see how the Auburn/Ole Miss game turns out. I think it could go either way, though Auburn is favored by 6.5.

Of course I'm interested in FSU/Ga. Tech, too. Let's hope Tech doesn't lose all the momentum they've built up this season. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone even care about Tennessee/South Carolina?

Only reason to watch USC tomorrow is to see if they cover the 44.5 point spread...

Texas/Texas Tech might be awesome. But I have a feeling Texas will expose the Red Raiders for what they are. (They are who we thought they were!?)

Bama plays Arkansas St. at home on PPV at 2pm. We're 22.5 point favorites, but Ark. St. is no slouch. Take a look.

Think LSU fans are ready to welcome Nick Saban back to Baton Rouge?
A billboard spotted this week blares "Welcome back, Nick!" while promoting a "Burn Bama Bonfire" the night before Alabama's Nov. 8 game at LSU. The billboard features an burning effigy to represent Alabama's coach, who (as you know) coached LSU from 2000-04 and is due back at Tiger Stadium next week for the first time with the Crimson Tide.

There, finally got this done much earlier than usual. The official coverage map isn't actually updated for this week yet, but I made the logical educated guess.

Bama is favored by 13 points this weekend vs. Ole Miss.

It'll be nice if Penn St. slaughters Michigan.

Mizzou @ Texas is the big matchup. Can Missouri bounce back after that awful display against Oregon St. last week? I hope I get to watch it somewhere after our game.

South Carolina has won 4 in a row now, I think. But I just don't see it happening against LSU. (And neither does anyone else: LSU -3.)

Oh yeah, one more thing. I don't have them listed because we don't know if they're necessary right now, but we could also have Dodgers @ Phillies (Game 7) and Red Sox @ (Devil) Rays (Game 6). It's very unlikely the Dodgers will be able to stretch it to Game 7, but it is possible the Sox will make a last stand and force a Game 6. If either of these things happen, I'll update the schedule.

Oklahoma and Texas at 11am?? If I lived on the west coast I wouldn't even be awake yet. Seriously spoils a great game.

The state of Alabama is really cut up when it comes to the 2:30pm ABC game. It looks like the Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Mobile areas will get Notre Dame @ North Carolina. But the Montgomery, Auburn, and Selma areas should get Arizona St. @ USC. I have no idea why.

At least one of the ESPN talking heads called Texas Tech the most overrated team in the Top 25. Guess we'll find out when they face a bad Nebraska team. (Like 20.5 point dog bad.)

Don't look now, but Notre Dame @ North Carolina should be a pretty decent game. If UNC wins, they should find their way into the Top 25 next week. If the Irish win, they'll probably be bumped up to #4.

Who here thinks Tennessee has a chance at Georgia? *crickets*

Ah, a rare CBS night game. It's a good one, too. Bama fans have to pull for Florida in this one. Maybe they both can lose, though...

Is this the week Wisconsin finally gets knocked out of the Top 25? What a disappointing team.

That OSU/Mizzou game should be pretty damn good. You know, if you like offense.

The first NHL game of the 2008-2009 season makes the Sports Saturday schedule! The Red Wings raised their championship banner from last year just about 2 hours ago. Ah, glorious.

Auburn fired their offensive coordinatory, Tony Franklin, and the line against Arkansas was static at -18.5 Interesting. Alabama is off this weekend. (Much needed rest, too.)

Friday? I'm a slacker.

The games are really spread out tomorrow. I like it.

Maybe I'll start including the lines in the Alabama/Auburn games. Hmm... Auburn (-4) @ Vandy and Kentucky (+16.5) @ Bama.

One game I did not include: Tuskegee @ Alabama A&M (Indianapolis, IN) at 3pm... on the NFL Network. Wtf. Great way to break into college football, guys.

Evan Longoria is indescribably good. A 23 year old rookie coming back from a broken wrist only a couple of months ago goes 3-3 with two homeruns, an rbi single, and a walk. His postseason batting average is now a nice 1.000. He should retire right now. If you have nothing to do at 5pm tonight, turn on TBS and watch this guy mash against the White Sox. (Maybe not, though, since Danks is starting.) And of course BoSox/Angels are on afterward.

From here on out I am not including the Furmans, Ga. Southerns, UT Chatts, FAMUs, and so on. It takes too much time to do this already, and it's a waste of space.

Don't underestimate that UNC @ Miami game. I think the Tarheels might finally be turning a corner with Butch Davis, and Miami is at least better than they've been the last couple of years.

The hog slaughter in Texas may commence.

One would expect Auburn to take care of Tennessee easily, but take caution: Fulmer is now fighting for his job. Another question is if Auburn can bounce back from the LSU heartbreaker.

Jason and I think it's most likely FOX will show the Cubs @ Brewers at 2:30. It could be Yanks @ Red Sox.

Most of my readers will see Illinois @ Penn St. on ABC, as I've indicated. The rest of you unlucky bastards will see Virginia Tech @ Nebraska.

I don't know what to say about Bama @ Georgia except... I've got a halfway decent feeling about it. I'm not making any bold predictions here like last week. I'm just saying I'm not scared.

Wow, three baseball games! Must be a pennant race (or two or three) going on...

LSU @ Auburn is definitely the marquee matchup this weekend. They are the two highest ranked teams playing each other. Too bad I'll be at a stupid wedding. I think Georgia @ Arizona St. should be pretty interesting, as well. I'd like to see if the Dawgs can actually impress people this weekend. ("See" as in read about later... stupid wedding.)

Bama's spread on Arkansas is 9.5. I don't usually pick the Tide to cover, but I feel good about this weekend. Arkansas gets steamrolled. You heard it here. (Oh God, what have I done...)

This one was by far the hardest schedule to figure out so far this season. Mainly because it's sometimes difficult to find out how ABC divides their viewing audiences for the regional games. (They've never put the map in the same place - until this year, it seems. We'll find out next week.) But also because the Arkansas @ Texas game was postponed until September 27. This jumbled things up a bit. We would have had Arkansas on ABC, with Ga. Tech on ESPN, but now my best guess is Ga. Tech @ Va. Tech on ABC and Oregon @ Purdue on ESPN.

Yes, let's everyone see the USC smackdown on Ohio St.

After narrowly surviving the awesome San Diego St. Aztecs, can Notre Dame put up a fight against an equally limp Michigan team that barely held off powerhouse Miami... of Ohio?

Can the Vols bounce back and defeat the Alabama intramural squad?

Only one baseball game, wtf.

#16 Bama hosts Western Kentucky at 6pm on PPV.

Egad, almost forgot the schedule! Also forgot to include the (USA Today) rankings last week. Still shaking the rust off...

It's that time of year again! Hard to believe the last time I made up a schedule was last December...

Didn't make too many changes here. First off, Lincoln Financial (LF), which was Jefferson Pilot (JP), is now Raycom, which in Tuscaloosa airs on CW. Got it? Secondly, instead of listing Fox Sports South as FSN, I now have it listed as FSO. All the rest are pretty self explanatory, I think. (SPSO is SportSouth.)

Decided to spare you guys Mars Hill @ Furman and North Greenville @ Liberty... And as always, NASCAR does not make the cut. I did include baseball, but did not include preseason NFL. (They're all on the NFL Network, if you're curious.)

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say Alabama vs. Clemson is the marquee matchup this Saturday. I only pray there isn't any inclement weather in the state of Alabama that evening, because I don't think I can handle a huge radar map on the screen during the game.

Edit: LSU's game against App St. has been moved to 10am Central due to Katrina's bastard Slavic cousin, Gustav. It will now be shown on ESPN Classic. I don't know what'll be on ESPN in the 4pm time slot. Probably more studio talk. Thrilling.

My Opera people: The table I create for the schedule has never been rendered properly here in its original form. down What I did last year was edit it heavily so it looked moderately decent in this blog. I just don't feel like putting that much effort into it this year, though, so any of you who want to see the schedule should just click the LJ link above. wizard

I'm having a really hard time getting to sleep tonight, so I thought I'd post the schedule for later today. There are some really good football matchups here, including the ACC, SEC, and Big 12 Championships. But don't overlook the C-USA Championship. Central Florida is pretty darn good. (Anyone remember George O'Leary??)

I've decided to include decent college basketball matchups, as well. And since I'm using the USA Today rankings for college football, I may as well use them here, too.

We even have a Thrashers game!

The sad part is the game I think I most want to see, Missouri and Oklahoma, will be unwatchable for me. Instead, I'll be in Faunsdale, AL shooting for ZAP. (It's south of here about 55 miles.) But there are plenty of other good games before I have to go around 8:30pm. I may put off my trip to Birminham to get my new tv stand (story later) since 1) I'm still awake at 5am, and 2) there are pretty damn good games on during the day.
