Missed last week's schedule since I was in San Diego. But now we're cookin'!

Holy crapola, it's October. That means the Braves season is over. Can't figure out why in the world they'd be the FOX Saturday afternoon game. Especially against the Nats, ew.

Ole Miss is at South Carolina as I type this... Both look pretty bad. For what it's worth, I took the Gamecocks to beat the 3 point spread at home, if only out of defiance that Ole Miss is not a Top 10 team.

Not too many comments on this weekend's schedule. I probably won't be able to see much beyond the Bama game. I'll have my hands full.

Awful game for Georgia Tech last night... Bleh.

The ESPN coverage map says we're supposed to get Arizona @ Iowa on ESPN2 at 2:30, but that has to be wrong. I think they accidentally mixed up the color codes. There's no way that Arizona and Iowa are the only states getting Nebraska @ Virginia Tech.

And at first I thought it was a mistake, but no... Notre Dame isn't ranked! (zomfg)

Alabama finally gets another real game next weekend!

Not much going on Saturday night besides the USC / Ohio St. matchup. But tonight we have Clemson @ #15 Georgia Tech on ESPN! I never get to the see the Ramblin' Wreck play in primetime and/or in HD, so I'm pretty excited.

Alabama hosts Florida International Saturday at 6pm. It's on PPV only. I won't get to see it because I'll be in Atlanta with my family. Why will I be in the ATL? I'll be attending the Falcons home opener vs. the Miami Dolphins, woo! Mom and I will root for the Falcons, while my uncles and cousins (who are originally from Miami) pull for the Dolphins. Should be fun!

As for the schedule... I only have two notes: The SEC lost only one game last weekend. That was Georgia, and they fell to #9 Oklahoma St. The ACC lost TWO games to teams in Division I-AA. Virginia lost to William & Mary, and Duke lost to Richmond. (The Spiders!)

One last thing - GO TROY!

It's that time of year again, woooooooo! We've had to deal with MLB and preseason NFL for too long! Now we get the bread and butter: college football.

Not on the schedule below, but the 2009 CFB season really kicks off on Thursday, Sep. 3, where we have South Carolina at North Carolina St. After that is #16 Oregon at #14 Boise St. Both of those games are airing on ESPN.

Some notes: The shitty SEC game of the week has historically been shown on Jefferson Pilot (JP), which became Lincoln Financial (LF), which became Raycom. This year, the new SEC Network will carry these games. The same station that brought you JP/LF/Raycom should also bring you the SEC Network game. And yes, there will be an HD broadcast.

I will now begin listing Big 10 Network games on the schedule, as many folks get this channel standard now.

I will not, however, list Fox College Sports Network channels. Most people won't get these stations, I doubt my readers care much about the shitty west coast games anyway.

As usual, I will include MLB, as well as anything else of interest that happens on Saturday. (Which, of course, means no NASCAR.)

I remember making a new plan for how I was going to use rankings in the schedule this year, but I can't for the life of me remember it. So for lack of any other great idea, I'll use the AP Top 25. I didn't use it last year because it's not a part of the BCS rankings, but I think I'm going to actually use it for that very reason this time. Screw the BCS.

Ole Miss is easily the team with the most inflated ranking. Watch them go down quickly. Notre Dame could take the field with 9 players and still be ranked in the Top 25 each season. And if you didn't notice, Old Man Holtz predicted ND will reach the BCS Championship game. Someone forgot to take his reality pills.

And without further ado... The schedule!

Bowl Season 2008-2009

Debuting a new LJ style, along with a new schedule style. Let me know what you think. (Table row hover style works in all browsers except IE 6.) Rankings are of the BCS variety as of Dec. 7. And yes, I took some creative liberties with a few of the bowl names. Enjoy.

Ga. Tech kicked Miami's assssss last night, woo!

Michigan @ Ohio St. will be painful to watch. In fact, every single football game from 11am until 2:30pm will be painful to watch.

I included Ga. Tech basketball because 1) I'm a fan, and 2) Mercer has already knocked off both Alabama and Auburn in the span of four days. This should be interesting.

Caution: Syracuse @ Notre Dame might cause nausea, dry mouth, diarrhea, problems sleeping, anxiety/agitation, weight changes, and/or problems with sexual health. You have no chance to survive make your time. Ha ha ha ha ....

No Washington team should ever be televised. This includes The University of Washington, Washington St. University, the Seattle Seahawks, the Seattle Super Sonics (aw, snap, I went there), and the Mariners. If they have a WNBA team, they're included. And just for good measure, let's toss in the Redskins and the Nationals, too.

Michigan St. @ Penn St. Finally, a good game. I guess I can plan to wake up around 2 tomorrow.

Ole Miss did Florida on the road. Can they do the same to LSU? Anyone who saw the Troy (St.) game will say yes.

Northwestern is not on TV this week! BC is on for the second week in a row.

Vandy fans: Tomorrow is the last chance you'll have to beat Fat Phil. Make it count.

I was going to say something about Texas Tech and Oklahoma, but nothing really comes to mind. I'm rooting OU.

Bama and Auburn are both off this week. Said Saban, "No potty words this time, just Roll Tide."

Better late than never. Here's the schedule.

You know your team is shitty when Auburn/Georgia gets the 11:30 Raycom slot. Ouch. (Just like Bama/Tennessee last year.) Vegas has Georgia by 8.5.

Northwestern is on TV again.

Kansas's season is done. What a disappointing year.

If South Carolina doesn't upset Florida, I still have them picked to beat the three touchdown spread.

The line on the Alabama game moved from 19.5 on Monday to 22 by Thursday. It makes me a little uncomfortable, but I picked us to cover anyway.

It'll be interesting to see if FSU comes out in the wishbone after 5 receivers were suspended for today's game. If I could go back and edit my Yahoo picks, I'd change my pick to BC and take the 6.5.

It felt pretty good typing that #1 next to Alabama, which is a 3 point favorite at LSU this weekend. Let's hope we don't give it back the week after we took it.

Auburn has Tennessee Martin at home this weekend. The only line I could find is Auburn by 27. Which reminds me of Tennessee's line against Wyoming: -26.5. Jokes can (and have) been made about their offenses, but I'll take both to cover.

Is it just me, or is Northwestern getting a LOT of air time this year? Seems like they own the early morning Big 10 slot on ESPN.

Texas Tech hangover against OK St.? We'll see.

I was miffed last night that we had Maryland / Va. Tech and Browns / Broncos on TV, but not #11 TCU @ #9 Utah. That's some b.s. Turns out it had a pretty exciting finish, too. (Maybe less exciting for our TCU readers!)
