Truckenees - Lesson No. 2
Saturday, 9. June 2007, 12:00:00
This is lesson number 2 in my series “Truckenees”, how to speak the trucker lingo.
Remember, the following is not just for the CB radio. These terms and phrases are part of the everyday language of the modern trucker.
Extra tip: “Hello Driver” is a polite greeting to any trucker you may meet.
This week:
“Full grown (bear)” - a State Patrol or State Trooper
“Kick a tire” - to use the restroom, to relieve oneself
“Pickle park” - a rest area or parking area along the interstate or highway
“Get off (ramp)” - the road or ramp that exits the interstate or highway
thus
“Get on (ramp)” - the road or ramp that enters the interstate or highway
Now, let us use these new terms in a sentence, shall we.
“I stopped at the pickle park to kick a tire and I saw a full grown on the get off.”

once i drove out west from new york and got about five speeding tickets on the way. so my wife gave me a cb for christmas. i've never been much of a joiner if it required a payment. but i made it back to new york without a single ticket thanks to the little book of truckers talk that came in my stocking.
nice post bigdadgib.
respectfully,
