Truckenees - Lesson No. 5
Saturday, 30. June 2007, 12:00:00
This is lesson number 5 in my series “Truckenees”, how to speak the trucker lingo.
Remember, the following is not just for the CB radio. These terms and phrases are part of the everyday language of the modern trucker.
Extra tip: Saying "Break" is a polite way of interrupting a conversation on the CB radio
This week:
“Yard Stick” - a mile marker found along side of the interstate
“Takin' Your Picture” - refers to law enforcement using a speed detection device to determine the speed of a vehicle
“County Mountie” - a law enforcement officer from a county, a sheriff, a deputy sheriff
“K-Whopper” - a nick name for a Ken-worth truck
Now, let us use these new terms in a sentence, shall we.
“ Hey east bound K-Whopper, I saw a County Mountie at the 39 yard stick who's gonna be takin your picture ”
