It is Obviously a Basically Bad Thing

Obviously you know that I basically listen to many hours of news and news related programs on the obviously great XM radio. I basically hear field reporters giving first hand accounts of obviously great news events. What I obviously find most often is they obviously need to basically remove two words from their obviously small vocabulary. Basically, those two words are “obviously” and “basically“.I have heard many young and basically new reporters make the mistake of basically over using these two words. Obviously I have found these reporters on basically all of your cable news providers. I obviously do not need to basically list them all because you obviously know who they basically are.
Case in point:
I heard this today: (News report on Fox News at around 17:25 03/11/2007)
- “Thanks Trace, basically what we have is the high winds from the east that are obviously fanning the flames that basically cause the fire to race up the sides of the hills. The high winds are obviously what is driving this fire which is basically moving at thirty to forty miles per hour. Firefighters are obviously worried about the homes that are in the direct path of the fire which is basically headed right for them.”
I was obviously annoyed at the basically annoying report. I do not know if it was just that the reporter was obviously new or just basically excited but he needs to basically scratch basically and obviously remove obviously from his off-the-cuff reports.
