And what about the variation of symbolism in other cultures? It's a fascinating subject! Black is a typical example of a whole range of meanings and beliefs. As for white, it too is associated with different meanings. In fact, these two "colours" (because strictly speaking they are not colours as opposed to yellow, magenta and blue (see post entitled "Colours!"))
I love this duality, the meeting of the two extremes, the supreme contrast.
And you can convey so much emotion, atmosphere (yes again!) and a message with black & white photos!
