"Bright Star"

, ,

I have fallen in love with Bright Star. Film made by Jane Campion who is my favourit film maker! Her films are always hauntingly beautiful and full to the brim with emotions, beauty, hope, melancholy!!

Bright Star depicts the love story between John Keats and Fanny Browne. The film title is a poem written by John Keats for his love:

Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art--
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors--
No--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever--or else swoon to death.

You are right Abby Cornish plays superbly! So does Ben Whishaw! I cry every time I watch this movie...And the photography is exactly what I like and inspire to be able to achieve one day with photography! I LOVE Jane Campion! To me this film could have been called "the BrightEST Star" but then it would not have been a direct reference to the poem John Keats wrote for his beloved.....
