British humour

,

Here are a few examples of British humour at its best (well it all depends where you stand...some people would probably say "no at its worst" and OK I can understand as some stuff is very unpolitically correct...but I quite like that!). For having lived in the UK a while, I have watched television (or telly as they say) a lot, not that I have ever been a great fan of TV...but sometimes it can be entertaining. The British are very fond of their soap operas like Eastenders, Coronation Street (which has its own museum!) and Only Fools & Horses. As opposed to French TV!

Only Fools and Horses
This clip is based on a true story! up

Little Britain
This particular clip shows a young teenager and it's quite difficult to understand her...which is the whole point!

This next series is called The league of Gentlemen and it is a succession of wierd sketches depicting strange people in a small village in the north of England. They are rather dark characters full of quirks. It is very politically incorrect! And wierd!

See you for now!cheers

I like "Keeping Up Appearances" and Mr. Bean is quite entertaining. I've always been a fan of Monty Python. But, some brit humor is a bit awkward at times.smile

Bennie Hill?
Okay.

A recent show that was on for a little while was "Mrs. Browns Boys". It's rather Irish humour but OMG it was soooo funny. And who can forget about the amazing 'Allo 'Allo (sorry to all the French bigsmile ) and "Are you Being Served?" Especially that last one deserves mention, it's brilliant and hilarious.

Bennie Hill is rather more slapstick, isn't it? Not a big fan but there were some funny moments smile

I tend to stay tuned to programs like Mock The Week which has some funny moments (and with the amazing Dara O'Brian). Then there's "Not Going Out", which I've seen a few times which can be funny (and Lee Mack is kinda hot in a strange way).

Most of this is based on stand up comedy, and I've finally found a favourite in that: Michael McIntyre. Oh, boy, is he hilarious. Just google his name or check youtube. Try searching for the very faux joke (but brilliant word puns) about his kid (who's learning to speak) and Jews in his neighborhood. I've never ever laughed so hard. wink

Thanks Richard, I'll have a look! up

Yes I know "Allo, allo"...It was OK but I got tired of the French accent really... Not that I felt offended, more because I don't like hearing the French accent. It "hurts" my ears! French can have such a terrible accent in English!!!!irked

AS for Benny Hill it's a very typical 70s show: everything looks so garish and I guess it's OK to watch for a while. I especially like when Benny Hill used to tap the old boy's bald head and the end credits when they all run after each other zigzagging !! Otherwise not so keen.
lol
