Measurement and Registration

Unlike most of the model yacht classes, the BMMA operates a self measurement system. The skippers of the boats are responsible for ensuring that their boats comply with the rating rule. The BMMA is entitled to measure any boat at any meeting at any time, and boats found to be illegal will be disqualified from that event. In this way, the onus is kept on the skippers, and the administration is kept to a minimum. This self measurement system also opens the way for a simple registration method, that only requires the skipper to inform the association of the basic dimensions and name of the boat. With this, a registration number can be issued, and the boat officially raced.
It is possible to register any multihull that falls under the Mini4O or 2m class rule. The regulations do not define a minimum size for the boats, and it is perfectly legal to race "undersize" boats. The association is very keen to locate all the multihull models in the UK (regardless of them being "class" boats), and will be happy to record them. All that is required is to contact the Association (or download them*) to obtain a set of the class rules, measure your boat, and then pass the information back to the committee. The registration is free to association members, but non members will be required to pay £10.00.
* Although, not yet available, the class rules will shortly be available for download.

Is ther4e any difference between a FORMULA48 sand a MINI40?
