What one Christian Thinks...

Response to David Barron

I was quite surprised to find that one of my posts to the Evangelical and Jehovah's Witness list on Yahoogroups (evangelicals_and_jws@yahoogroups.com) was being discussed on David Barron's website. Barron is apparently a JW. His comments may be found here:

1. This was, of course, part of a continuing discussion, so that taking it out of the context of that discussion eliminates the points and counterpoints that were being made.

2. I have been involved with these discussions for a long time, and I would ask David what evidence I was ignoring? He seems to conflate disagreement with "not listening," unaware of the fact that a person may know and understand, but still not agree. I staunchly disagree that ἐγὼ εἰμί is a "present of past action," and I believe that if John had wanted to express what the JW's claim, the Greek constructions that I suggested would be a good way of doing so.

I therefore invite David to present whatever evidence I have allegedly ignored, and to show in what way my argument is a straw man.

Mr Hoffstetter,

You are welcome to visit the blog, www.kingdomready.org/blog, where many of these issues are discussed. JWs and Evangelicals are addressed and the Biblical Unitarian stance is explained.

The frequent bloggers on this forum are also welcome to share their thoughts. The recent debate between Christadelphian, Dave Burke and Evangelical, Rob Bowman is also extensively critiqued under "Another Trinity/Monotheism Debate." Tough issues indeed.

Hope to see you there,

Jaco
