Learning Latin

As in the comment I left there, I have sometimes experimented with having students translate directly from Greek into Latin (though I haven't yet tried it the other way, perhaps because my students end up having more Latin than Greek by the time they graduate). It's a fun and useful exercise, though, and I'm coming to the conclusion that composition is essential for internalizing the languages. I am currently rethinking my classes to include composition time for each of them.
