My OperaWhere's My Music?!

So this morining, I woke up extra early to download 1 song on Limewire. I drag the song on to my iPod and leave the house. I turn on my iPod. MY MUSIC IS GONE!
So I rode the subway with no music 
...or that's what I thought. After I got off, I remembered that I had my homebrew-capable Nintendo DS with me, and that had music AND a Family Guy Episode on it, along with about 50 DS, GBA, and Homebrew apps on its memory card. I got really pissed off. So anyways, now I'm at home. About 5 minutes ago, I plugged my iPod into my computer, and iTunes wanted to restore it, so I went along. Although I'm the master of computers and modding (ie Linux on my iPod Nano with Doom and videos), I wanted it to be done quickly and effortlessly. And then I realized that the music was still on the iPod, but the file that told the iPod where the music was was missing, and that could have easily have been fixed . So now all the music my friend gave me, which is not on my computer, I don't have anymore
