Beeks' Place! Beeks' Place!

Party Time! Excellent!

Blog part 2 of 2?? (a little late!)

, , , ,

I'm going to try really hard to keep up the Beeks Place blog again! I miss blogging on a regular basis, plus I have all these stories from work that I have to talk about to SOMEBODY! And, of course, I'm going to turn my short little summer break into a Chicago adventure--so I'll have to chronicle that too!
So let's see...what's happened since Christmas?

  • My winter quarter at school involved my first patternmaking class, a fashion illustration class, and a course that studied the trends of fashion! My proudest achievement was designing, drafting, and sewing my very first dress! Here's a comic book that documents everything!

  • I had a brief internship in one of the showrooms at the Apparel Center, which involved this old, cranky racist woman ("I like everyone but the Indians!"), who insisted on talking through a microphone, and had this tiny poodle that ran around everywhere! The work involved learning everything about the designer lines that we represented and then trying to get boutique owners to buy our stuff. Evidently, I didn't do very well because my boss got mad at me and told me "selling really isn't your thing." She's a poop anyway!
  • Oh yeah! I'm also a Resident Assistant in Student Housing. It really, really, stinks--but it DOES pay for my housing! But really. I've never met a rowdier bunch of kids! Lockout calls at any time of the night (who gets locked out at 5 AM??), roommate disagreements over cabinet space and open windows, grease fires that torch kitchens, bed bugs, actual fights between two girls, and seizures are just some of the exciting things I deal with on a daily basis! It's not very fun, but I guess I'll put up with it....
  • The spring quarter at school is just about to end, but so far I've drawn a small collection of outfits in Adobe Illustrator and made a few more things in Patternmaking II--a dress, a swing coat, a tailored jacket, and a soon-to-be pair of pants! I'll post pictures soon! I like the dress that I made, the swing coat is OK, but I didn't like my jacket very much. Oh well!
  • The relationship that I was in for a little over a year just ended this past weekend. I was feeling really crummy for a while, but I am feeling better for the most part now! I'm just going to take advantage of this time to try and do some more designing on my own, and also adventure about Chicago! I want to spend a day in Millenium Park, have some really good brunches, explore the Field Museum, walk around the zoo and the beach, and go to at least one Cubs game! So, if anyone's planning to vacation in Chicago over the summer, you let me know!
  • My most recent job is at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra doing some clerical work for the telefunding department. I have the weeeiiiirrrdest boss, who has more mood swings than most women! One day he's whistling and doing stretches in the office, the next day he's yelling at me and pacing about the office blowing off steam. He also drinks *GALLONS* of coffee each day, so the smell of it just eminates from his breath--so pungent! He's really big on working out, though, and is always asking me what I like to do to exercise! Then he finds it appropriate to come over to my desk and do lunges and leg stretches, because he's "prepping for the marathon."

So, that about sums it up for now! Let's hope there are more posts from now on! I miss my little blog...

Very productive months you'have had! I agree with SeaEmpty and I'm sorry as well about your relationship... but "Show must go on" and, as me and some friends say: "reach your goals... whatever it takes!"

Hey, that blouse looks lovely!

Speaking on Bosses: the Caffein-lover... he seems kind of paranoid!

Btw, whenever you're at the Millenium Park, Could you take some pics of it, for us, people who doesn't have the less idea of that place!

Well, the best of the wishes from a place not as beautiful as Chicago... but at least one who has a reader who really missed your posts... ME :D

XOXO
