Party Time! Excellent!

I grilled sometime during my absence.

, , , ...

Yes! It has been nearly a month since my last post, and I have managed to grill both hot dogs AND boca burgers in this time period. Oh, and s'mores! The grill is a bit of a challenge--er, maybe it's just me--but a lot of lighter fluid was used in that tiny grill! FIRE!!! At some point I felt insignificant because my neighbor down below was grilling simultaneously on his much larger grill, but that feeling soon waned because I like smaller versions of things (like snack sized candy bars as opposed to king sized; miniature anything) and therefore think my grill is much more fun.

Some UPDATES:
  • I have felt like poop more than once this month
  • I have pooped more than once this month
  • I played with both kitties and puppies at the Humane Society this month. One cat was the size of a beach ball!
  • I have been surviving on $1 Tortino's pizzas and hotdogs
  • At some point, I intend to start my next painting project!
  • I watched Evil Dead this month, and feel like watching Evil Dead 2 tonight!
  • I REALLY want to go shopping!

And I saw a RAINBOW yesterday! It was more like a rainbow stump because it didn't go very high. Not even an arch!

I like the new cat on my blog--or is it a mink?? Someday I would like to make my own custom style sheet, but if I can't even figure out Photoshop then I think it would be hard for me to make my own style sheet. SOMEDAY.

ACCEPTED!

As I was lugging my 20 bags of groceries up the stairs to my apartment today, I decided to check my mail on the way up--and FOUND TWO LETTERS from the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago!!! I nearly dropped my Grade AA Large Eggs!!! I raced upstairs to my door (still juggling the groceries!) and as soon as I got inside and dropped everything on the floor, I tore open the first envelope! IT SAID!:

Dear Rebecca,

Congratulations! The Admissions Committee is very pleased to offer you admission to the Illinois Institute of Art at Chicago.

You have been admitted to the Bachelor Degree program in Fashion Design beginning 2007, Fall.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Illinois Institute of Art at Chicago. Again, congratulations!

The second letter informed me of alllll the credits from my previous BA that would transfer (about 72 hours, which will save me around $30,000!!!!!)!!!!!

AND SO there was lots of jumping around, calling friends and the parents, ETC! Mom said she was going to TRY and be excited, but she would miss me very much and that we needed to have a talk SOON about "personal safety" in Chicago.

BUT IN 6 MONTHS I WILL BE GOING TO SCHOOL IN CHICAGO!!!

AAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHasl;fkjasd;fljka!!!!!!!!!!

To whoever's going to the GDC--take me with you!!

Looks like those lucky enough to be attending the Game Developers Conference this March are in for one heck of a time! Not only is Shigeru Miyamoto delivering a keynote, the conference is also hosting two other events that I'd give my big toe to see--an i am 8-bit preview exhibit and a Video Games Live concert! i am 8-bit exploded into the art scene with hundreds of artists rendering their dearest 8-bit gaming memories in paintings, sculptures, plushies, and more! And now it's happening all over again, making an exclusive debut at the GDC! AND I CAN'T BE THERE!

Some of you may remember purchasing concert tickets to the Video Games Live concert tour last fall, only to have your hopes and dreams squelched when nearly every show was suddenly canceled (I sequestered myself in my room with nothing but a box of tissues and a package of Oreos when the Kansas City show got the axe). The GDC is offering a chance to see this event in all its glory--I mean, there's going to be a freaking pre-show and post-show party!! The pre-show event includes a costume contest, which I remember being most excited about for the *canceled* KC show (I was going to be Sheena from Tales of Symphonia!). Perhaps I can audition to play in the orchestra (I play the timpani and the xylophone!). Then I'd get to go!

Anyway--I'd like to ask anyone who bought a pass to the GDC to take me along, too. I'm small and compact, so I can fit in those tiny rolly-suitcases executives cart everywhere. Please consider!

Action games improve vision! Harvest Moon, not so much.

The local news station (KAKE 10) ran a little story the other night about how playing video games can actually improve your eyesight! This website outlines how playing high-octane action video games with lots of visual information helped gamers get a better score on certain parts of their eye exams. The other test group that played Tetris (an "equally demanding game in terms of motor control") didn't show any signs of improvement! This probably explains why my vision only gets worse each time I go to the eye doctor--I've been playing way too much Harvest Moon (such a pleasant game!) and not enough Metroid Prime!!
