A bit of attic wisdom!

, ,

Ooh! So, the other month I explored the depths of my basement and found many old treasures, such as my old Animaniacs lunchboxes and Super Mario toothbrush! Just the other week I decided to change it up and explore my attic! I dug through boxes and boxes of stuff and found:

  • My collection of old Pokemon toys and figurines!
  • Some Howliday Inn books! (these were kids books about a bunch of animals and a vampire bunny that had all sorts of adventures!)
  • A small box that contains my wisdom teeth!

I hated getting my wisdom teeth taken out. I had this neon yellow bruise on the side of my face for weeks!! Plus, I was stuck in the house for a week, and that was at the point where I was sailing the seas of Hyrule in search for all those Triforce pieces. And I HATED that part. BLAH!

Create a Valen-tendo for Valentine's Day!

,

Besides Christmas, I think Valentine's Day just might be my favorite holiday--it's when all the best candy comes out in the store and a wealth of chocolate becomes available! This year is different, though. The other day, I said to myself, "Becky, stop thinking about yourself and your own tummy! How about sharing the love with other people?" So, fear not, Nintendo Blog friends, for I have some Valentine's Day ideas for you! Whether you have your own special someone you're going solo, I've got some holiday fun up my sleeve that will help you participate in the festivities--Nintendo-style!

  • Make your own Valentine!

Dust off your copy of Mario Paint for the SNES and go hog wild by making your own Valentine! You can leave it on your TV for the recipient mega-tron style (like at baseball games! but in your, um, basement, or what have you.) Or, if you have a nice enough camera and actually KNOW how to take good pictures of your TV (as you can see, I obviously do not!), snap a pic and print it off yourself! Here are some of my ideas! You don't think they're a bit much, do you? >_<

  • Compose your own Love Song!

Don't put Mario Paint away quite yet! Tap into your inner song-writer and compose something utterly saccharine-sweet in Composer mode! Better yet, compose it ENTIRELY using the heart shape!!

  • Give a gift!

There are gifts, and then there are romantic Nintendo gifts. Buy them for someone special, or secretly purchase them for yourself!!

Forget those Zale's Jewelry ads! These lovable baby Bowser earrings are sure to turn heads. And they'll probably help you win every time you play Mario Party as well! I found these on eBay!

As if puppies weren't cute enough, now you've got two Nintendogs wearing Mario hats!! You can get these on eBay too!

This mug is especially fitting for a Valentine's day gift because it has hearts on it--the cool kind of heart--your life meter! Check out CafePress to find this mug and other Nintendo-inspired swag!!

Next up, games to play with your special Valentine (or just yourself! I've got ideas for you too!), and also an attempt to make Valentine's Day "Zelda Heart Container" cookies!

Gotta love the free gift!

Yesterday was Christmas all over again! For nearly 3 months I've been waiting anxiously by the mailbox for my free Nintendo Wii keychain--all compliments of Nintendo Power magazine for renewing my subscription for the 10th time! So, not only am I covered another year in Nintendo Power entertainment, I am officially the coolest driver in the Harvey County area--who else's keys get to snuggle up against a mini Wiimote every day? AND, if you push the 1 button, a soothing blue light shines forth from the top! It's like having that neat message-alert glow whenver I want, wherever I want! (In addition, the blue light also serves as a great lint and dust detector in dark areas!)

I must confess, I am a sucker for the free subscriber gifts Nintendo Power consistently offers. In the past, I've received Player's Guides, soundtracks, video game bundles, and even a blue Nintendo sports watch! (and whatever happened to it? I think I need to loot my attic!) At present, the Nintendo Online store is offering all kinds of goodies with a one year subscription--usually a T-shirt or a Player's Guide, all for $19.95. Personally, I've always thought it was a pretty nice deal! PG's are usually around $11-15 anyway, so throw in a year's worth of magazines and it's $20 well spent! Now, nothing can beat the $4.69 deal as reported at House of Nintendo, but if you're looking for a certain Player's Guide anyway, think about subscribing!
