Benjamin Joffe

The great arc.

Ever wanted to circumnavigate the world? Then you'll enjoy my new demo.

Instructions:
Drag the points across the map of the Earth (Miller cylindrical projection) and the shortest route between these points (accounting for the Earth's curvature) will be drawn for you.

I have plans to make this into a widget. One particular feature I intend to add is to display the portion of the map that is currently lit by sunlight, any other suggestions?

Edit: it's funny how plans to make stuff always fall through when there's no competition to win p:

 You can add some of the biggiest cities (New York, Moskow, Tokio, London, Paris, etc.), but dont show them. When you drag a point to the right place close to a city, show name of the city right to the point.
 Show current local time at each point.
 Ability to add sequence of points, not only two (would be useful in travel planning)
 Would be interesting to add some statistic such as how long it would take if you travel from point to point by ship, jet, train, car, bicycle, walk, etc.
 Ability to change type of "vehicle" at each point.
 Add direction of "travel" (just add simple arrows)

So, all-in-all you can create some kind of global travel planner.

 Oh, man, you can even collect some statistic from other sites about tickets price.
