Culture and Festivals of Bhutan

, ,

Bhutan the land of thunder dragon will make you experience the mesmerizing monastic festival, folk song and legendary stories of our ancient history. The religious festival called Tshechu is one of the most popular. It is celebrated in all the dzongs and in many of the temples to commemorate the different events in the life of Guru Rinpoche.

The festivals dates, length and program vary from one place to another, and furthermore, the program is not fixed once and for all: dances may be added or omitted. Although certain dances are specific to certain places, most dances are performed all over the country, and are extremely popular.

For Bhutanese these festivals are unique occasions to prove their religious fervor, but also, decked out in their smartest clothes, to exchange the latest news.
